  1. 1. Data Analysis and Next Generation Sequencing : Applications in Microbiology

    Författare :Nicolas Innocenti; Erik Aurell; Mogens Jensen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RNA-seq; tagRNA-seq; primary and processed RNA; Enterococcus faecalis; Complex transcription; Metagenomics; 5 tagRACE; minimal absent words; compressed sensing; metagenomics; bacterial community reconstruction; Biologisk fysik; Biological Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is a new technology that has revolutionized the way we study living organisms. Where previously only a few genes could be studied at a time through targeted direct probing, NGS offers the possibility to perform measurements for a whole genome at once. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Online coaching as a Relationship of Inquiry : Exploring one-to-one online education

    Författare :Stefan Stenbom; Stefan Hrastinski; Martha Cleveland-Innes; Inga-Britt Skogh; Elizabeth Murphy; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; online learning; online coaching; one-to-one online education; Community of Inquiry; Relationship of Inquiry; Teknikvetenskapens lärande och kommunikation; Education and Communication in the Technological Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : In educational development, much focus is put on the use of computers and other digital tools to enhance teaching and learning. One of the most used digital communication forms is one-to-one communication using text, images, and video. One-to-one communication for educational purposes has, however, so far received only modest attention in research. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Styckares arbete : knivskarpt om hållbarhet

    Författare :Kjerstin Vogel; Jörgen Eklund; Roland Örtengren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ergonomics; meat cutting; knife; knife sharpening; polishing; interactive; industry intervention; sustainability; profitability; change; yield; stress; RAS; Ergonomi; styckning; kniv; knivskärpa; polering; interaktiv; branschintervention; hållbarhet; lönsamhet; förändring; utbyte; stress; RAS;

    Sammanfattning : Styckares arbete är fysiskt ansträngande och kännetecknas av att vara utpräglat manuellt där den handhållna kniven är det viktigaste verktyget. Arbetet innebär enligt arbetsskadestatistiken hög risk för arbetsrelaterade skador och sjukdomar. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Interference Alignment with Imperfect Channel Knowledge and Secrecy Constraints

    Författare :Zhao Wang; Mikael Skoglund; Ming Xiao; Sheng Yang; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the degrees of freedom (DOF) of wireless networks are studied with imperfect channel state information at transmitters (CSIT) and/or secrecy constraints. Different interference alignment schemes are proposed to establish the DOF lower bound for a variety of wireless networks. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Peakflow response of stream networks : implications of physical descriptions of streams and temporal change

    Författare :Anna Åkesson; Anders Wörman; Alberto Viglione; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Streamflow routing; peakflow predictions; parameterization; hydrological response; stage-dependency; flooded cross-sections; stream networks; backwater effects; temporal change; land use change; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Through distributed stream network routing, it has quantitatively been shown that the relationship between flow travel time and discharge varies strongly nonlinearly with stream stage and with catchment-specific properties.Physically derived distributions of water travel times through a stream network were successfully used to parameterise the streamflow response function of a compartmental hydrological model.
