1. Peakflow response of stream networks : implications of physical descriptions of streams and temporal change
Sammanfattning : Through distributed stream network routing, it has quantitatively been shown that the relationship between flow travel time and discharge varies strongly nonlinearly with stream stage and with catchment-specific properties.Physically derived distributions of water travel times through a stream network were successfully used to parameterise the streamflow response function of a compartmental hydrological model. 2. The role of roads on hydrological response : Modeling and assessment for Swedish watersheds
Sammanfattning : Understanding the role of road networks in alteration of hydrological responses is crucial for maintaining the accessibility and durability of road infrastructures. Road construction is one of the most common man made disturbances to a landscape. LÄS MER
3. Modelling Hydrological and Hydrodynamic Processes in Lake Tana Basin, Ethiopia
Sammanfattning : Lake Tana Basin is of significant importance to Ethiopia concerning water resources aspects and the ecological balance of the area. The growing high demands in utilizing the high potentials of water resource of the Lake to its maximal limit, pictures a disturbing future for the Lake. LÄS MER
4. Ecosystem response to dam removal
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to improve our understanding of how riverine ecosystems respond to dam removal. Riverine and particularly riparian ecosystems are among the most variable and important features of all landscapes. LÄS MER
5. Hydrological and sediment yield modelling in Lake Tana Basin, Blue Nile Ethiopia
Sammanfattning : Land and water resources degradation are the major problems on the Ethiopian highlands. Poor land use practices and improper management systems have played a significant role in causing high soil erosion rates, sediment transport and loss of agricultural nutrients. So far limited meas-ures have been taken to combat the problems. LÄS MER
