11. Immune Complex Regulated Cytokine Production in Rheumatic and Lymphoproliferative Diseases
Sammanfattning : Immune complexes (ICs) are produced during normal immune responses and facilitate clearance of foreign antigens. ICs not efficiently cleared from the circulation can cause tissue damage. This might happen if ICs are formed with autoantibodies and autoantigens. LÄS MER
12. Chlamydia pneumoniae in Aortic Valve Sclerosis and Thoracic Aortic Disease : Aspects of Pathogenesis and Therapy

13. Serum Amyloid A Protein (SAA) in Healthy and Infected Individuals
Sammanfattning : Serum amyloid A protein (SAA) is an acute phase protein that has recently gained increasing interest as a potential marker for disease and treatment monitoring. We investigated SAA and CRP levels in (a) patients with various common infectious diseases (n=98), (b) patients with pyelonephritis (n=37) versus patients with cystitis (n=32), (c) healthy individuals of varying ages (n=231), (d) very immature newborn infants with or without nosocomial infections (NIs) (n=72) and (e) patients with bacterial infections treated with cefuroxime (n=81). 14. Chlamydophila pneumoniae in Cardiovascular Diseases : Clinical and Experimental Studies
Sammanfattning : Chlamydophila pneumoniae (C. pneumoniae) has been suggested as a stimulator of chronic inflammation in atherosclerosis. C. pneumoniae DNA was demonstrated in aortic biopsies in 50% of patients with stable angina pectoris or acute coronary syndrome undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting. LÄS MER
15. Polyunsaturated fatty acids in relation to childhood and maternal allergic diseases
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUPA) in relation to the appem11nce of anergic diseases in children and mothers in late pregnancy and during the lactation period and to the development of atopy in children, as well as the influence of maternal PUF A on their babies. The levels of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, C22:6n-3) and total n-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCP) were lower (p = 0.
