  1. 6. In Vivo Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy of Human Tissue : From Point Measurements to Imaging

    Författare :Erik Häggblad; Göran Salerud; Tomas Strömberg; Maurice C. G. Maurice C. G. Aalders; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the non-invasive use of diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) to provide information about the biochemical composition of living tissue. During DRS measurements, the incident, visible light is partially absorbed by chromophores but also scattered in the tissue before being remitted. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging of the brain : Tractography analysis with application in healthy individuals and patients

    Författare :Johanna Mårtensson; Elna-Marie Larsson; Jimmy Lätt; Danielle van Westen; Tim Dyrby; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Diffusion Tensor Imaging; Tractography; white matter tracts; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In study 1, thirty-eight healthy controls were used for optimization of the method. Fifteen patients with progressive supranuclear palsy and an equal number of age-matched healthy controls underwent diffusion tensor MRI and were then investigated and compared groupwise. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Proton Relaxation Properties of a Particulate Iron Oxide MR Contrast Agent in Different Tissue Systems : Implications for Imaging

    Författare :Atle Bjørnerud; Graham A. Wright; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Iron oxide nanoparticles; USPIO; NC100150 Injection; water exchange limited relaxation; MR perfusion imaging.; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; radiologi; Radiology;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge of the relationship between in vivo contrast agent concentration and magnetic resonance (MR) signal response is an important requirement in contrast enhanced MR imaging in general and in MR based perfusion imaging in particular. This relationship is a complex function of the properties of the contrast agent as well as the structure of the target tissue. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Radiolabelled Oligonucleotides for Evaluation of in vivo Hybridisation Utilising PET Methodology

    Författare :Gábor Lendvai; Mats Bergström; Sergio Estrada; Barbro Eriksson; Raymond Josephsson; Bertrand Tavitian; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Molecular medicine; Gene expression; Antisense oligonucleotides; Positron emission tomography; In vivo hybridisation; In vivo biodistribution; Chromogranin-A; 68Ga; RT-PCR; Scavenger receptors; Molekylärmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Antisense oligonucleotides (ODN) may interfere in gene expression on the basis of hybridising to its complementary messenger RNA (mRNA) sequence in the cell thereby preventing the synthesis of the peptide. Therefore, these ODNs may be potential drugs to treat human diseases by “knocking down” the expression of responsible genes or correcting the maturation process of mRNA in the field called antisense therapy. 5. 10. Engineered nanomaterials in in vivo and in vitro models

    Författare :Laura Abariute; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; III-V semiconductor nanowires; Nanoparticle exposure; Mouse exposure; Cell exposure; Nanotoxicology; Nanosafety; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Abariute;

    Sammanfattning : Nanotechnology and engineered nanomaterials (ENM) empower existing technologies. One of the great examples are III-V semiconductor nanowires (NW), which have a broad application range. The occupational safety and hazard organizations draw attention to ENM, as their physical and chemical characteristics differ from the ones of bulk materials. LÄS MER
