  1. 6. CNS-Targeted Cell Therapy for Multiple Sclerosis

    Författare :Moa Fransson; Angelica Loskog; Tomas Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CAR; Targeting; Suppressive cells; Foxp3; Tregs; Clinical immunology; Klinisk immunologi; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disorder of the central nervous system (CNS). In the current thesis, we have preformed an immunological investigation of patients with MS and developed an immunosuppressive cell therapy that could be beneficial for these patients. LÄS MER

  2. 7. T Regulatory Cells – Friends or Foes?

    Författare :Camilla Lindqvist; Angelica Loskog; Thomas Tötterman; Vivianne Malmström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Treg; T regulatory cell; FoxP3; CD25; CLL; B-cell lymphoma; Clinical immunology; Klinisk immunologi; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : T regulatory cells (Tregs) have been extensively studied in patients with cancer or autoimmunity. These cells hamper the immune system’s ability to clear tumor cells in cancer patients. In autoimmune diseases, on the other hand, they are not able to restrain autoreactive immune responses. 3. 8. Functional and Phenotypic Studies of Eosinophilic Granulocytes in Patients with Eosinophilic Esophagitis

    Författare :Christine Lingblom; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adults; children; corticosteroids; eosinophils; eosinophilic esophagitis; FOXP3; galectin-10; inflammation; T cell suppression;

    Sammanfattning : Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology, in which the esophagus is infiltrated by eosinophils and T cells. Topical corticosteroids are one of the treatment options for patients with EoE. The function of eosinophils in EoE is unknown, here we hypothesize that eosinophils serve as immunoregulatory cells. 4. 9. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma – studies on immunohistochemical and clinical prognostic factors

    Författare :Sverker Hasselblom; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :DLBCL; prognosis; sex; population-based; apoptosis; Ki-67; CTLs; TIA-1; FOXP3; bcl-2; GCB; p-AKT;

    Sammanfattning : DLBCL, the most common lymphoma entity, is a potentially curable but heterogeneous disease. Most studies concerning therapy and prognostic factors have been performed on selected patient materials. It is important to identify immunohistochemical biomarkers which could add prognostic information to clinical factors. LÄS MER

  5. 10. T cells in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

    Författare :Ester Roos-Engstrand; Anders Blomberg; Anders Bucht; Annelie F Behndig; Magnus Sköld; Claes-Göran Löfdahl; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; airway epithelium; bronchoscopy; bronchoalveolar lavage; endobronchial mucosal biopsies; inflammation; flow cytometry; T lymphocytes; CD25; CD127; FoxP3; Lung diseases; Lungsjukdomar; lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Tobacco smoking is the main cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, COPD, but the mechanisms by which cigarette smoke induces COPD are still elusive. T lymphocytes have been implicated in the pathogenesis of the disease, but their role in the airway inflammation in COPD is not fully understood. LÄS MER
