  1. 1. Immunogene Therapy of Bladder Carcinoma : A Preclinical Study

    Författare :Angelica Loskog; Rolf Kiessling; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Immunotherapy; Gene therapy; Immunogene therapy; CD40L; Bladder carcinoma; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis comprises studies on murine and human models of bladder carcinoma with the aim to develop novel immunogene therapies. On the basis of the results presented in this thesis, a clinical trial is underway. The potential of activating the immune system to combat cancer has long intrigued immunologists. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Curing Multiple Sclerosis : How to do it and how to prove it

    Författare :Joachim Burman; Jan Fagius; Angelica Loskog; Sara Mangsbo; Paulo Muraro; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; biomarkers; cerebrospinal fluid; cytokines; hematopoietic stem cell transplantation; immunology; magnetic resonance imaging; multiple sclerosis; neuroimmunology; neurology; Neurology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a potentially curative treatment for multiple sclerosis (MS) with now more than 600 documented cases in the medical literature. Long-term remission can be achieved with this therapy, but when is it justified to claim that a patient is cured from MS? In attempt to answer this question, the outcome of the Swedish patients is described, mechanisms behind the therapeutic effect are discussed and new tools for demonstration of absence of disease have been developed. 3. 3. Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells and Other Immune Escape Mechanisms in Chronic Leukemia

    Författare :Lisa Christiansson; Angelica S I Loskog; Ulla Olsson-Strömberg; Andreas Lundqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chronic myeloid leukemia; myeloid-derived suppressor cells; sCD25; tyrosine kinase inhibitors; multiplex protein quantification; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is characterized by the Philadelphia chromosome, a minute chromosome that leads to the creation of the fusion gene BCR/ABL and the transcription of the fusion protein BCR/ABL in transformed cells. The constitutively active tyrosine kinase BCR/ABL confers enhanced proliferation and survival on leukemic cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Preclinical evaluation of immunostimulatory gene therapy for pancreatic cancer

    Författare :Emma Eriksson; Angelica Loskog; Tanja de Gruijl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pancreatic cancer; immunotherapy; oncolytic viruses; adenoviruses; CD40L; 4-1BBL; IL-6; tumor microenvironment; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Pancreatic cancer is characterized by its desmoplastic tumor microenvironment and the infiltration of immunosuppressive cells. It is a devastating disease where most patients are diagnosed at a late stage and the treatment options are few. The development of new treatments is surly needed. LÄS MER

  5. 5. CNS-Targeted Cell Therapy for Multiple Sclerosis

    Författare :Moa Fransson; Angelica Loskog; Tomas Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CAR; Targeting; Suppressive cells; Foxp3; Tregs; Clinical immunology; Klinisk immunologi; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disorder of the central nervous system (CNS). In the current thesis, we have preformed an immunological investigation of patients with MS and developed an immunosuppressive cell therapy that could be beneficial for these patients. LÄS MER
