  1. 11. Combustion Chemistry Investigation of Liquid and Solid Fuels

    Författare :Åsa Håkansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gasoline; flame; GC MS; heptane; combustion; pyrolysis; kinetics; emissions; wood; RME;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this work was to study the combustion of liquid and solid fuels with the emphasis on intermediates and products. Depending on the structure and the complexity of the fuel different reactors and methods were used. Small-scale laboratory reactors were built and chemical analysis and evaluation methods were developed. Heptane. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Materials based on wood can offer sustainable alternatives to fossil-based plastics and composites, and show interesting mechanical properties. However, the issue of their flammability is generally unresolved. In this thesis, eco-friendly, fire retardant clay-cellulose nanofibril materials are investigated. LÄS MER

  3. 13. QSBMR Quantitative Structure Biomagnification Relationships : Studies Regarding Persistent Environmental Pollutants in the Baltic Sea Biota

    Författare :Katrin Lundstedt-Enkel; Jan Örberg; Per Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biomagnification; Multivariate modelling of environmental data; Transport of contaminants; Environmental toxicology; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : I have studied persistent environmental pollutants in herring (Clupea harengus), in adult guillemot (Uria aalge) and in guillemot eggs from the Baltic Sea. The studied contaminants were organochlorines (OCs); dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes (DDTs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), hexachlorobenzene (HCB), hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs), and brominated flame retardants (BFRs); polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDEs) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD). 4. 14. Advanced Laser-based Multi-scalar Imaging for Flame Structure Visualization towards a Deepened Understanding of Premixed Turbulent Combustion

    Författare :Bo Zhou; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser Diagnostics; PLIF; High Spatial Resolution; Multi-scalar Instantaneous Visualization; HCO CH Radicals; Distributed Reaction Zone; Mild Combustion.; Combustion Regimes; Turbulence Flame Interaction; Turbulent Premixed Combustion; Fysicumarkivet A:2015:Zhou;

    Sammanfattning : The work presented in the thesis concerns the developments of laser-based diagnostics and its application to the study of turbulent premixed combustion. The diagnostic developments, mainly concerned with planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF), are intended to provide instantaneous visualization of the key species originating from the combustion processes involved in the burning of hydrocarbons and nitrogen-containing fuels under turbulent conditions. 5. 15. Direct numerical simulation of turbulent premixed flames at high Karlovitz numbers: structure and modelling

    Författare :Thommie Nilsson; Strömningsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Direct numerical simulation; Computational fluid dynamics; Combustion model; Premixed flame; Turbulence; Karlovitz number;

    Sammanfattning : There has been recent increased interest in premixed flames and in particular for use in gas turbines for power generation. This is a development that follows from increasing demands for high efficiency and low emissions of NOx, which can be achieved by using premixed flames and lean pre-heated mixtures, often close to the lean flammability limit.
