36. Causes and consequences of temporomandibular joint diseases
Sammanfattning : Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJD), a subgroup of Temporomandibular disorders (TMD), has a multifactorial etiology with still largely unknown pathophysiology. Although many risk factors have been proposed, few population-based studies have been conducted. LÄS MER
37. Apolipoprotein CIII in the pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus
Sammanfattning : It has previously been shown that high levels of apolipoprotein CIII (apoCIII) are related to both type-1 (T1D) and type-2 diabetes (T2D). In this thesis, mechanisms whereby apoCIII affects diet- and genetically-induced obesity and metabolic derangements, and the role of the environment and apoCIII in the development of T1D, have been studied. 38. The Design Platform Approach –Enabling platform-based development in the engineer-to-order industry
Sammanfattning : Manufacturing companies are continuously faced with requirements regarding technology novelty, shorter time to market, a higher level of functionality, and lower prices on their products. This is especially the case for companies developing and manufacturing highly customized products, also known as engineer-to-order (ETO) companies. LÄS MER
39. Double Poling Incross-Country Skiing : Biomechanical and Physiological Analysis of Sitting and Standing Positions
Sammanfattning : Double poling (DP) is a sub-technique in cross-country skiing that has increased in interest over the last decades, e.g. athletes in cross-country skiing have increased their utilisation of double poling during competitions. LÄS MER
40. Fenton Pre-treatment of a Birch Kraft Pulp for MFC preparation
Sammanfattning : The potential to use acidic hydrogen peroxide in the presence of ferrous ions (Fenton’s reagent) as a pre-treatment when producing microfibrillar cellulose (MFC) from a fully bleached birch (Betula verucosa) kraft pulp was investigated and the properties of the produced MFC was compared to the properties of a MFC produced with enzymatic pre-treatment with a monocomponent endoglucanase (FiberCare® R). The mechanical treatment to MFC was performed in a laboratory colloid mill or in a pilot high-pressure homogeniser and the pre-treated pulps as well as the produced MFCs were chemically and morphologically characterised.
