  1. 1. Acid-base values in umbilical cord blood at birth

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Författare :Nana Wiberg; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Apgar score; Acidosis; Base deficit; Blood gases; Gestational age; Hidden acidosis; lactate; Umbilical cord blood;

    Sammanfattning : Umbilical cord blood acid-base status at birth gives an objective evaluation of the fetal exposure and response to hypoxia during labor. The objective of this thesis was to elucidate methodological issues associated with interpretation of cord blood gases. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Retinal glucose metabolism and blood flow : Effects of photic stimulation

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Lin Wang; Uppsala universitet.; [1997]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology and anatomy; blood flow; darkness; flicker; glucose oxidation; glycolysis; lactate; light; nitric oxide; optic nerve; retina; Fysiologi och anatomi; MEDICINE Physiology and pharmacology; MEDICIN Fysiologi och farmakologi; Physiology; fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Retinal glucose metabolism was investigated under different light conditions in cats,pigs and rabbits. Glycolysis and glucose oxidation in the outer and inner parts of theretina were assessed by determining arteriovenous concentration differences foroxygen, glucose and lactate, as well as local blood flow. 3. 3. Extreme hemodilution: Effects of inhalation anesthetics, hypoxia, and blood loss. An Experimental study in pigs

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, Lund

    Författare :Henning Schou; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1997]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaesthesiology; oxygen saturation.; blood volume; coronary circulation; blood lactate; oxygen uptake; Anemia; oxygen delivery; intensive care; Anestesiologi; intensivvård;

    Sammanfattning : Hemodilution reduces the need for blood transfusion and hereby the risk for transmission of infectious agents. The present study investigated effects on systemic and myocardial circulation and oxygenation, and blood lactate concentrations; induced by nitrous oxide, isoflurane, hypoxia, and uncompensated blood loss, in pigs hemodiluted to a hematocrit of 11%. 4. 4. The small intestine in experimental peritonitis : An experimental study focusing om intestinal energy metabolism, bacterial translocation and mucosal immunology

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Mikael Ljungdahl; Uppsala universitet.; [2000]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Bacterial translocation; endotoxin; faecal peritonitis; high-energy phosphates; hypoxia; intramucosal pH; IL-6; ischaemia; lactate; lymphocytes; mucosal injury; oxygendelivery; pigs; sepsis; tonometry; Kirurgi; MEDICINE Surgery; MEDICIN Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : The gut is highly susceptible to injury during sepsis. An impaired mucosal barrier permitstranslocation of enteric microorganisms to blood or other organs. In a porcine model sepsiswas induced by faecal peritonitis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Metabolic and Cardiovascular Responses During Variable Intensity Exercise

    Detta är en avhandling från Sundsvall : Mittuniversitetet

    Författare :Glenn Björklund; Mittuniversitetet.; [2010]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cross-country skiing; cycling; heart rate; lactate; O2 extraction; O2 uptake; performance; ventilation; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS Sports; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN Idrott;

    Sammanfattning : Previous research investigating endurance sports from a physiological perspectivehas mainly used constant or graded exercise protocols, although the nature ofsports like cross-country skiing and road cycling leads to continuous variations inworkload. Current knowledge is thus limited as regards physiological responses tovariations in exercise intensity. LÄS MER
