  1. 31. Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease – Is it just the hip? : Epidemiological, Clinical and Psychosocial Studies with special focus on Etiology

    Författare :Yasmin D. Hailer; Olof Nilsson; Sharham Bahmanyar; Fritz Hefti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease; hypertension; ischemic heart disease; coagulation; risk factors; etiology; injury; quality of life; EQ-5D; IPAQ; physical activity; ADHD; ASRS; depression; mortality; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis was to add some pieces to the etiological puzzle of LCPD with special focus on vascular origin and hyperactivity. Furthermore we wanted to evaluate some consequences of LCPD in adulthood.Swedish registry data were used to identify a cohort of patients with the diagnosis of LCPD. LÄS MER

  2. 32. Free oscillation rheometry in the assessment of platelet quality

    Författare :Nahreen Tynngård; Gösta Berlin; Tomas Lindahl; James AuBuchon; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Coagulation; elasticity; platelets; rheology; transfusion; Transfusion medicine; Transfusionsmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Platelets play an important role in the haemostatic process in order to seal damaged blood vessels. The platelets form a platelet plug at the damaged area and prevent blood loss. Once the damage to the vessel wall has been covered, the platelets retract the coagulum, to allow the blood to flow freely in the vessel. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Aspects of proteinase-activated receptor-2: A sensor of enzymatic activity at the cell surface

    Författare :Anna-Karin Alm; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuropsychology; Neurology; endometrium.; coagulation; signalling; proteinase; G-protein; cell; receptor; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Information about extracellular proteolytic activity is transduced to the cell by a transmembrane G-protein coupled receptor subfamily. These receptors are activated by proteolytic cleavage in the extracellular amino-terminal domain and are thus termed proteinase-activated receptors (PARs). LÄS MER

  4. 34. Protein S-100, inflammatory and haemostatic mediators in paediatric open heart surgery. Influence of clinical variables and a biocompatible cardiopulmonary bypass system

    Författare :Eva Jensen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiopulmonary bypass; biocompatible; S-100; Down s syndrome; inflammatory response; complement; cytokines; PMN elastase; haemostasis; coagulation; fibrinolysis;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is used in most operations when correcting congenital heart malformations. Postoperative neurological problems (temporary or permanent) are complications of the procedure. These neurological injuries, especially if they are minor, are difficult to recognise in small children. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Numerical approaches to droplet growth in atmospheric turbulence

    Författare :Xiang-Yu Li; Axel Brandenburg; Gunilla Svensson; Luca Brandt; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; turbulence; coagulation; condensation; rain formation; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : The bottleneck problem of cloud droplet growth is one of the most challenging problems in cloud physics. Cloud droplet growth is neither dominated by con-densation nor gravitational collision in the size range of 15–40 μm in radius. Turbulence-generated collision has been thought to be the mechanism to bridge the size gap, i.e. LÄS MER
