  1. 1. The Human Endometrium : Studies on Angiogenesis and Endometriosis

    Författare :Christian Moberg; Matts Olovsson; Anneli Stavreus-Evers; Lalit Kumar Parameswaran Grace; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endometrium; angiogenesis; endothelial cell; endometriosis; receptivity; implantation; oestrogen receptor; progesterone receptor; crystallin; interleukin; vasoactive intestinal peptide; peritoneal fluid; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is thought to play a pivotal role in the cycling endometrium. Coordinated by oestrogen and progesterone, endometrial blood vessel development is primarily mediated by vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A), which promotes endothelial cell (EC) proliferation and protects ECs from induced apoptosis. 2. 2. The Plasminogen Activation System in Human Endometrium and Endometrial Cancer; Function, Tissue Localization and Prognostic Importance

    Författare :Johanna Nordengren; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics; progesterone; estradiol; cultured cells; gene expression; prognosis; hyperplasia; neoplasm; endometrium; human; Plasminogen activators; gynaecology; andrology; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Sammanfattning : The release of urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) from endometrial stromal cells decreased after progesterone stimulation, due to upregulation of PA inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) and uPA receptor (uPAR). Subsequently, the uPA:PAI-1 complex was internalized and degraded via uPAR. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Matrix metalloproteinase-26 (MMP-26) and Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-4 (TIMP-4) in normal, hyperplastic, and malignant endometrium

    Författare :Radovan Pilka; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; Obstetrics; gynaecology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancerology; secretion; Biology; Biologi; Cytology; oncology; implantation; human; endometrium; mRNA; MMP-26; TIMP-4; reproduktion; andrologi; gynekologi; Obstetrik; sexuality; reproduction; sexualitet; andrology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to study matrix metalloproteinase-26 (MMP-26) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-4 (TIMP-4) in normal, hyperplastic, and malignant endometrium. Most importantnly, both these molecules may be ivolved in the implantation process. Trophoblast tissue from human as well as mouse embryos produces pro-MMP-9. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Ultrasound in the management of women with post-menopausal bleeding

    Författare :Elisabeth Epstein; gynekologisk och prenatal ultraljudsdiagnostik Obstetrisk; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gynaecology; Obstetrics; observer variation; reproducibility; vascularity index; power Doppler; hydrosonography; biopsy; ultrasound; post-menopausal bleeding; malignancy; Endometrium; andrology; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate how ultrasound can be used in the diagnostic work-up of women with post-menopausal bleeding (PMB) to optimise and individualise their management. The thesis is based on six studies comprising post-menopausal women with (Study I-VI) and without (Study VI) abnormal bleeding. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Hormonal regulation of the primate uterus : effects of hormone treatment and lifestyle intervention

    Författare :Mariana Hulchiy; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; endometrium;

    Sammanfattning : The uterus is a major hormone-responsive reproductive organ in primates. Hormones promote their effect via different pathways. Receptors involved in steroid hormone, thyroid hormone and insulin signaling have been found in the endometrium. LÄS MER
