  1. 1. Fusion Plasma Observations at JET with the TOFOR Neutron Spectrometer : Instrumental Challenges and Physics Results

    Författare :Maria Gatu Johnson; Matthias Weiszflog; Luciano Bertalot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fusion; Plasma diagnostics; Neutron Spectrometry; TOFOR; JET; ITER; time-of-flight; plasma heating; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The neutron spectrometer TOFOR was installed at JET in 2005 for high-rate observation of neutrons from reactions between two deuterium (D) ions. Neutron spectrometry as a fusion plasma diagnostic technique is invoked to obtain information about the velocity states of fusion fuel ions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Turbulence and scalar flux modelling applied to separated flows

    Författare :Johan Gullman-Strand; Arne V. Johansson; Suad Jakirlic; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Space and plasma physics; fluid physics; plasma physics; applied mechanics; aerospace; Rymd- och plasmafysik; Space physics; Rymdfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The turbulen flow in an asymmetric diffuser has been en studied by the means of Reynold average Navier-Stokes equations with both differential and explict algebraic expressions to model the Reynolds stress tensor. Modifications to the differential stress model have been derived, using the inverse turbulence timescale to obtain the dissipation of turbuence kinetic energy. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Aspects of the ATLAS ITk Inner Tracker development for the high luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider

    Författare :Jonas Steentoft; Richard Brenner; Rebeca Gonzalez Suarez; Matti Kalliokoski; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ATLAS ITk; Detector instrumentation; Applied physics; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The High Luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), necessitates that the ATLAS experiment replace their current Inner Detector (ID) system. The new Inner Tracker (ITk) will be an all silicon detector, utilising both pixel and strip sensors, with the aim of performing as well, or better than the current system - but in a much more challenging environment. 4. 4. Calibration of the ATLAS calorimeters and discovery potential for massive top quark resonances at the LHC

    Författare :Elin Bergeås Kuutmann; Jörgen Sjölin; Kerstin Jon-And; Sten Hellman; Hans Bøggild; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; particle physics; the ATLAS experiment; the Large Hadron Collider; calorimeter; calorimetry; hadronic calibration; top quark; top quark pair resonances; search for physics beyond the Standard Model; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : ATLAS is a multi-purpose detector which has recently started to take data at the LHC at CERN. This thesis describes the tests and calibrations of the central calorimeters of ATLAS and outlines a search for heavy top quark pair resonances. LÄS MER
