  1. 1. Catalysts for Oxygen Production and Utilization : Closing the Oxygen Cycle: From Biomimetic Oxidation to Artificial Photosynthesis

    Författare :Erik Karlsson; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Björn Åkermark; Jerker Mårtensson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; oxygen; catalytic oxidation; biomimetic oxidation; artificial photosynthesis; water oxidation; DFT calculations; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development and study of catalysts for redox reactions, which either utilize oxygen or hydrogen peroxide for the purpose of selectively oxidizing organic substrates, or produce oxygen as the necessary byproduct in the production of hydrogen by artificial photosynthesis.The first chapter gives a general introduction about the use of environmentally friendly oxidants in the field of organic synthesis, and about the field of artificial photosynthesis. 2. 2. Photoredox catalysis harnessing oxygen-centered radicals

    Författare :Alica Ondrejkova; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; oxygen-centered radical; photoredox catalysis; C-H functionalization; visible light;

    Sammanfattning : Visible light provides an abundant and renewable source of energy with an ample capacity to mediate chemical transformations. Photoredox catalysis utilizes this energy for the generation of high-energy radical intermediates and strategically employs these reactive species in versatile chemical transformations. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Using affordable materials from metallurgical industries in Oxygen Carrier Aided Combustion and Chemical-Looping Combustion

    Författare :Felicia Eliasson Störner; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Oxygen carriers; Ash interactions; Potassium interactions; Chemical-Looping Combustion; Oxygen Carrier Aided Combustion;

    Sammanfattning : Oxygen carriers are solid oxides of transition metals that can be used to convert fuel in the absence of gaseous oxygen in a process called Chemical-Looping Combustion (CLC). The use of oxygen carriers makes it possible to produce undiluted CO2 without expensive gas separation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Oxygen carrier aided combustion: Implementation of oxygen carriers to existing industrial settings

    Författare :Angelica Gyllén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ilmenite; Oxygen carrier aided combustion; Fluidized-bed; Biomass;

    Sammanfattning : Utilization of biomass and waste to produce heat and power is necessary for a sustainable future energy mix. Thermal conversion of biomass is considered to yield CO2 neutral emissions and the utilization of waste reduces its volumes in a world struggling to dispose of ever-increasing amounts. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Tissue Perfusion and Oxygenation Evaluated by Measurements of Tissue Gases and pH. An Experiemental Study

    Författare :Åke Mellström; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; intensive care; Anestesiologi; intensivvård; Anaesthesiology; Tissue pH; Tissue PCO2; Oxygen utilization; Tissue PO2;

    Sammanfattning : Optimum peripheral perfusion, oxygenation and oxygen utilization is a prerequisite for normal wound healing, resistance to infection and cardiac function. The purpose of this study was to evaluate peripheral oxygen utilization by measurements of subcutaneous tissue gases and pH (PscO2, PscCO2 and pHsc) in comparison to established techniques for measurements of periph-eral tissue oxygenation and oxygen utilization in experimental animal models with hyperoxia-hypoxia, acidosis-alkalosis and haemorrhage-resuscitation.
