17. A Chloroplast Localized Small Heat Shock Protein, Hsp21. Importance of Hsp21 in stress protection of transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana, recombinant expression and characterization of oxidation-dependent conformational changes
Sammanfattning : A specific group of heat shock proteins, the so called small heat shock proteins (sHsps), exists in all organisms but are especially abundant in plants. The sHsps prevent aggregation of other proteins (substrate proteins) during transient heat and oxidative stress. LÄS MER
18. Reduced ROS production triggers arthritis / The role of T cells in arthritis pathogenesis
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to defend a novel mechanism that triggers arthritis susceptibility in both rats and mice through reduced production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), but also to introduce a novel model for chronic relapsing arthritis. Five papers are included, all of which employ animal models for rheumatoid arthritis and one that also uses animal models for multiple sclerosis. LÄS MER
19. Phase separation, aggregation and gelation of a charged helixforming polysaccharide in aqueous salt solution
Sammanfattning : The phase behaviour and gelation of the anionic polysaccharide kappa-carrageenan (KC) in different salt solutions was studied. The specific site binding of certain anions and certain cations to the KC helix was used as a means of controlling the interactions. LÄS MER
20. Posture, postural ability and mobility in cerebral palsy
Sammanfattning : Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common cause of motor disability in children and adolescents with a prevalence of 2-3/1000. CP is characterized by disorders of posture and movement with impairments ranging from mild to severe. The ability to control posture is an important prerequisite for all voluntary movements. LÄS MER
