6. Models for the Transfer of Drugs from the Nasal Cavity to the Central Nervous System
Sammanfattning : The blood-brain barrier restricts the access of many compounds, including therapeutic agents, to the brain. Several human studies indicate that nasal administration of hydrophilic compounds, such as peptides, can bypass the blood-brain barrier. The aims of this thesis were to develop and refine models for this direct nose-to-brain transfer. LÄS MER
7. Diagnosing Sharing Anxiety
Sammanfattning : Numerous studies indicate that the potential of autonomous vehicles (AVs) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce traffic congestion, and increase mobility access can only be fully realized through fleets of vehicles being used for shared rides, also known as dynamic ridepooling. This has the potential for transforming the public transport industry, as well as how transportation functions in urban and rural contexts. LÄS MER
8. Same, Same but Different: On the Design of Cross-Regional Advisory Traffic Information Systems
Sammanfattning : As the automotive markets increase rapidly in developing countries, the study of cross-regional differences is certainly becoming an important consideration for in-vehicle technology design. Particularly, when moving from immediate/operational responses to warnings towards tactical responses to advisory information, culture in the form of traffic safety culture (TSC) comes into play in relation to both the information needs and drive behaviours. 9. Ion transport in exocrine glands with reference to cystic fibrosis
Sammanfattning : Aspects of ion transport in rat submandibular gland acinar cells at the subcellular level, and the regulation of chloride secretion and calcium mobilization in cultured pig tracheal gland acinar cells were studied with reference to the disease cystic fibrosis. In adult rat submandibular gland acinar cells, both cholinergic and α-adrenergic stimulation induced efflux of K+ and of C1-, but the response was generally less with α-adrenergic stimulation. 10. Proteomics informed investigation of human hepatocytes and liver tissue
Sammanfattning : A successful drug needs to display beneficial absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity (ADME-Tox) profile. It is therefore important to investigate these properties during the drug discovery process. LÄS MER
