21. Molecular Mechanisms in Endothelial Cell Differentiation
Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels from the pre-existing blood vessels. Blood vessels are composed of endothelial cells and supporting musculature. Angiogenesis is regulated by numerous soluble ligands and by cell-matrix interactions. LÄS MER
22. The nuclear factor k[kappa]B signal transduction pathway : its role in atherogenesis and intimal hyperplasia
Sammanfattning : Vascular inflammation is a hallmark of major cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, and also suggested as a critical component implicated in intimal hyperplasia. Given its central role in regulating expression of inflammatory genes, the nuclear factor kappaB (NF-kappaB) signal transduction pathway was postulated to play an important role in these pathological processes. 23. Indicators of apoptosis and proliferation in haematological malignancies : with special reference to drug resistance and prognosis
Sammanfattning : Successful treatment of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) and high-grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (HG- NHL) is hampered by development of drug resistance. A better understanding of mechanisms responsible for drug resistance and the identification of factors that predict response to therapy is essential to improve treatment. LÄS MER
24. Molecular and cytogenic studies of oncogene alterations in human breast and cervical carcinomas
Sammanfattning : Characterization of human tumors with associated genetic changes is of importance for better understanding the tumor's basic biological behavior and of great value for clinical management of cancer patients. We therefore investigated oncogene amplifications in human breast and cervical carcinomas using molecular and cytogenetic methods, especially FISH. LÄS MER
25. PARN – The Tail End : Function and mechanisms of specificity and processivity
Sammanfattning : Poly(A)-specific ribonuclease (PARN) is an exoribonuclease that is processive, poly(A) specific and cap-binding. PARN deadenylates the poly(A) tails present on a subset of mRNAs and non-coding RNAs, including among others certain snoRNAs, miRNAs and precursor rRNAs. LÄS MER
