    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Thermoluminescent Dosimetry; Optically stimulated luminescence OSL ; Computed tomography CT ; 4DCT; Phantoms; Imaging; X-rays; pre-clinical models; Pre-clinical; dosimetry: physical basis; biomedical strain; lung injury; mechanical ventilation; inflammation; lung function; synchrotron; histology; acute respiratory distress syndrome ARDS ; Ventilator Inudced Lung Injury VILI ; Histology; Forced Oscillation Technique FOT ; Divergence Theorem; Registration techniques;

    Sammanfattning : Lung diseases continue to present a large burden to public health, especially in industrialized countries. For abetter understanding of the underlying patho-mechanisms in lung related diseases as well as for testing theefficacy of novel therapies, preclinical studies in animal models are indispensable. 2. 2. The Human Cochlea and Cochlear Implantation : Morphological Characteristics and Clinical Correlations

    Författare :Nadine Schart-Morén; Helge Rask-Andersen; Elina Mäki-Torkko; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cochlear implantation; micro-CT; synchrotron; facial nerve stimulation; hearing preservation; round window;

    Sammanfattning : The most common sensory deficit in the world is sensorineural hearing loss. Cochlear implantation (CI) can majorly contribute to restore hearing, not only in patients with severe to profound hearing loss, but also in hearing-impaired patients with residual low-frequency hearing. Sammanfattning : The inner ear lies sheltered in the temporal bone and consists of basically three parts: the cochlea (the hearing organ), the vestibular (the balance organ), and the endolymphatic duct (ED) and endolymphatic sac (ES). The ES and ED are located in a bony canal, the vestibular aqueduct (VA), located on the medial side of the vestibule. LÄS MER

  4. 4. A Segmented Silicon Strip Detector for Photon-Counting Spectral Computed Tomography

    Författare :Cheng Xu; Hans Bornefalk; Mats Danielsson; Ami Altman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; photon counting; spectral computed tomography; silicon strip detector; ASIC; energy resolution; cadmium telluride; charge sharing; Monte Carlo simulation; synchrotron;

    Sammanfattning : Spectral computed tomography with energy-resolving detectors has a potential to improve the detectability of images and correspondingly reduce the radiation dose to patients by extracting and properly using the energy information in the broad x-ray spectrum. A silicon photon-counting detector has been developed for spectral CT and it has successfully solved the problem of high photon flux in clinical CT applications by adopting the segmented detector structure and operating the detector in edge-on geometry.
