    Författare :Jonas Claesson; Ola Winsö; Stefan Lehtipalo; Conny Arnerlöv; Björn Biber; Göran Hedenstierna; Petter Aadahl; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute lung injury; oleic acid lung injury; ischemia; reperfusion injury; swine; mechanical ventilation; lung recruitment; splanchnic circulation; laser Doppler flowmetry; tissue oxygen tension; microdialysis; lactate; glycerol; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Lung recruitment maneuvers (brief episodes of high airway pressure) are a modern treatment alternative to achieve open lung conditions under mechanical ventilation of patients with acute lung injury. It is well known that positive pressure ventilation with high airway pressures cause negative circulatory effects, and that the effects on regional vascular beds can be even more pronounced than the systemic effects. 3. 3. Lung mechanics in the aging lung and in acute lung injury. Studies based on sinusoidal flow modulation

    Författare :Ulrika Bitzén; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diagnostics; Diagnostik; acute lung injury; lung mechanics; acute respiratory distress syndrome; intensivvård; Anestesiologi; intensive care; Anaesthesiology; Andningsorganen; Respiratory system; Fysiologi; Physiology; flow regulation; method; lung resistance; compliance; aging;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge about lung mechanics is of interest in intensive care to adjust mechanical ventilation and in the lung laboratory for diagnostics and evaluation of patients with various kinds of respiratory diseases. In mechanical ventilation a single inspiratory elastic pressure-volume (Pel/V) curve is difficult to interpret due to continuing re-expansion of collapsed lung units over a large pressure interval. Sammanfattning : Lung diseases continue to present a large burden to public health, especially in industrialized countries. For abetter understanding of the underlying patho-mechanisms in lung related diseases as well as for testing theefficacy of novel therapies, preclinical studies in animal models are indispensable. 5. 5. FRC in acute lung injury. Experimental and clinical studies

    Författare :Christian Rylander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Airway obstruction; Acute lung injury; Acute respiratory distress syndrome; Attenuation; Computed tomography; End-expiratory lung volume; Functional residual capacity; Gas dilution; Hounsfield unit; Lung volume; Oleic acid; Recruitment; Time constant;

    Sammanfattning : Respiratory failure due to acute lung injury (ALI) of diffuse inflammatory origin is a major cause of respiratory failure treated in intensive care units. In ALI, FRC is reduced by various mechanisms associated with hypoxemia and consolidation of the lung. LÄS MER
