  1. 1. Trait anxiety as a determinant of psychological test results

    Författare :Roger Persson; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Environmental health; industrial medicine; Occupational health; work stress; toxic encephalopathy; symptom reporting; neuropsychological testing; organic solvents; repression; psychological methods; social desirability; anxiety; Personality traits; Medicin människa och djur ; Miljömedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin; Yrkesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the problem of interpreting test scores. The intention has been to explore and elucidate the effects of trait anxiety on test scores that have been obtained in applied research settings. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Posttraumatic Stress Reactions in Tortured Refugees : Relationship to pain, cognitive impairments, and negative appraisals

    Författare :Linda Nordin; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Refugees; torture; PTSD; pain; cognitive impairment; TBI;

    Sammanfattning : Refugees, particularly those exposed to torture and other forms of organized violence, often experience a wide range of difficulties, including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and somatic disturbances, particularly pain. Multimodal treatments have been developed to target this comorbidity in refugees, with evidence suggesting they are moderately effective. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Survival of Cultured and Grafted Embryonic Dopaminergic Neurones - Effects of hypothermia and prevention of oxidative stress

    Författare :Jenny Karlsson; Neurobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurology; 6-OHDA; lazaroid; PBN; brain; transplant; Parkinson s disease; dopamine; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Transplantation of embryonic dopaminergic neurones can ameliorate symptoms in Parkinson’s disease, but a major obstacle for clinical transplantations to overcome is the low survival (typically 5-10%) of implanted nigral neurones. If cell death in nigral grafts can be prevented, less embryonic tissue would be needed per transplantation session and hence more patients could receive intracerebral grafts as a therapy for Parkinson’s disease. 4. 4. Stroke and Functional Recovery - An experimental study on environmental influence and gene expression after cortical infarcts in the rat

    Författare :Anette Risedal; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurology; neuropsychology; cortical infarct; rat; enriched environment; functional recovery; brain-derived neurotrophic factor; inducible transcription factors; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; Neurologi; glucocorticoids; neurophysiology;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the western world, and the number one cause of disability. 85% of all strokes are ischemic. Most stroke survivors will experience recovery of function. The mechanisms behind this improvement are partly unknown, but may involve elements of both compensation and restoration. LÄS MER

  5. 5. DNA repair and the p53 pathway in ischemic and traumatic brain injury

    Författare :Gregor Tomasevic; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuronal death; DNA repair; knock-out mice; XPA; p53; mRNA; hippocampus; preconditioning; hypothermia; trauma; Brain; ischemia; neurobehavior; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Ischemic and traumatic brain damage are major causes of disability and death. While much effort has been spent to develop pharmacological treatments for these conditions, no neuroprotective drugs are in clinical use. LÄS MER
