  1. 21. The immunoglobulin genes in an Actinopterygian fish, the Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baeri)

    Författare :Mats Lundqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Immunoglobulin genes; gene organization; transmembrane TM ; comparative immunology; Siberian sturgeon Acipenser baerii ; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Molecular Immunology; molekylär immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Characterization of the immunoglobulin (Ig) light (L) and heavy (H) chain genes from the Siberiansturgeon, Acipenser baeri, revealed an Ig structure simhar to the IgM elass of mammals. The serumforms of the sturgeon Ig are tetrameric and dimeric. LÄS MER

  2. 22. The cholecystokinin receptor family : molecular cloning and pharmacological characterization

    Författare :Isabelle Nilsson; Dan Larhammar; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Cholecystokinin (CCK) and gastrin are hormones/neurotransmittors of the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system. The receptors for gastrin and CCK are members of the G protein-coupled receptor family. The aim of this study was to clone and pharmacologically characterize vertebrate and invertebrate CCK receptors and splice variants. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Mechanisms of phagocytosis resistance in Streptococcus pyogenes

    Författare :Heike Kotarsky; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi; fibrinogen; FHL-1; Factor H; M protein; Streptococcus pyogenes; phagocytosis;

    Sammanfattning : A distinguishing feature of Streptococcus pyogenes (GAS) is their ability to resist phagocytosis in whole human blood in the absence of type-specific antibodies, a property that is dependent on the expression of the surface associated M proteins. A common characteristic of M proteins is their interaction with a variety of host proteins including the complement regulatory protein factor H (FH) and fibrinogen that plays a key role in coagulation. 4. 24. Predictive Markers of Treatment Resistance in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

    Författare :Fredrik Jerhammar; Karin Roberg; Roland Grafström; Agneta Jansson; Keith D. Hunter; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Head and neck cancer is a common malignancy with approximately 600 000 new cases yearly. Disappointingly, the overall survival has not increased over the last decades. The concept of personalized medicine, i.e. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Rational modifications of cell-penetrating peptides for drug delivery : Applications in tumor targeting and oligonucleotide delivery

    Författare :Maarja Mäe; Ülo Langel; Edvard Smith; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell-penetrating peptide; oligonucleotide; drug delivery; tumor targeting; Neurochemistry; Neurokemi; Neurochemistry and Molecular Neurobiology; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : High molecular weight biomolecules are becoming important in the development of new therapeutics. However, their size and nature creates a major limitation for their application – poor penetration through biological membranes. LÄS MER
