  1. 1. Novel approaches in modeling of soil carbon : Upscaling theories and energetics

    Författare :Arjun Chakrawal; Stefano Manzoni; Hyun-Seob Song; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Microorganisms; soil C cycling; spatial heterogeneity; energetics; thermodynamics; microbial metabolism; calorespirometric ratio; microbial traits; heat dissipation; microscale; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Soils contain more carbon (C) than terrestrial (above ground) and atmospheric carbon combined. Mismanagement of soil C could lead to increased greenhouse gas emissions, whereas practices leading to increased C storage would help mitigate climate change while improving soil fertility and ecological functions. 2. 2. Biogeochemical processes in frozen soils : unfrozen water in frozen soils and factors regulating carbon mineralization at low temperatures

    Författare :Stina Harrysson Drotz; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : High latitude ecosystems are important for global carbon (C) balances and are among the most sensitive ecosystems to climate change. Microbial CO2 production in soil is known to proceed at temperatures < 0ºC in these regions and winter CO2 emissions can significantly affect annual C balances. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Sulfur cycling in Swedish arable soils : a chemical perspective

    Författare :Kristin Boye; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Sulfur (S) is an essential plant nutrient. Decreased S deposition in combination with a switch to high-analysis N/P-fertilizers has increased the need for S fertilization. Thus, soil research directed at understanding soil sulfur properties and processes has intensified. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Nitrogen dynamics in crop sequences with winter oilseed rape and winter wheat

    Författare :Lena Engström; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : With the aim of improving fertiliser nitrogen (N) strategies and reducing N leaching, seasonal changes in soil N supply in crop sequences with winter wheat after winter oilseed rape were examined through field experiments. Break crop effects on wheat after oilseed rape, compared with after peas and oats, were determined as regards residual N, yield and optimum N rate (Opt-N). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Chlorine Cycling in Terrestrial Environments

    Författare :Malin Montelius; David Bastviken; Teresia Svensson; Katarina Abrahamsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chloride; organic chlorine; chlorination; dechlorination; 36Cl; risk assessment modelling; Klorid; organiskt klor; klorering; deklorering; klor-36; riskmodellering;

    Sammanfattning : Chlorinated organic compounds (Clorg) are produced naturally in soil. Formation and degradation of Clorg affect the chlorine (Cl) cycling in terrestrial environments and chlorine can be retained or released from soil. LÄS MER
