  1. 6. Identification and Characterization of the Moraxella catarrhalis IgD-binding Protein MID

    Författare :Andrea Möllenkvist; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microbiology; receptor; structure; phase variation; MID; IgD; Moraxella catarrhalis; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Moraxella catarrhalis is now an established human pathogen that frequently colonizes the upper respiratory tract causing most importantly otitis media in children. It has also been associated with sinusitis, laryngitis and lower respiratory tract infections in adults with predisposing conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). LÄS MER

  2. 7. Multimodal and multiscale characterization of bone and bone interfaces in health and disease

    Författare :Chiara Micheletti; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bone; osseointegration; characterization; mineralization; ultrastructure; diabetes; osteoporosis; MRONJ; surface functionalization; local drug delivery; titanium; bioactive glass; imaging; spectroscopy; microscale; nanoscale; micro-computed X-ray tomography; micro-Raman spectroscopy; scanning electron microscopy; transmission electron microscopy; PFIB-SEM tomography; electron tomography;

    Sammanfattning : Seeing is believing. Our understanding of phenomena often involves their direct observation. However, bone architecture is challenging to visualize given its multi-level hierarchical organization. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Development and Characterization of a Global Brain Ischemia Model in the Mouse -A Genetic and Pharmacological Approach

    Författare :Tomas Olsson; Neuroinflammation; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; Neurologi; neuropsychology; Neurology; global; hypothermia; hsp70; receptor; adenosine A1; NMDA; cystatin C; cell death; hippocampus; Brain; ischemia; neurophysiology;

    Sammanfattning : Brain ischemia is a major cause of death and morbidity in the industrialized countries. It is mainly caused by stroke, but may also be the consequence of successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation in victims of cardiac arrest, known as transient global ischemia. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Design, Synthesis and Characterization of Galanin Receptor Selective Ligands

    Författare :Kristin E Webling; Ülo Langel; Gilberto Fisone; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; galanin; GAL1R; GAL2R; depression; epilepsy; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : Galanin is a 29/30 amino acid long bioactive peptide discovered over 30 years ago when C-terminally amidated peptides were isolated from porcine intestines. The name galanin originates from a combination of the first and last amino acids - G from glycine and the rest from alanine. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Characterization of human myeloid progenitors and their differentiation

    Författare :Louise Edvardsson; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine human and vertebrates ; extracellular fluids; Haematology; Medicin människa och djur ; thrombopoietin receptor; hematopoiesis; transcription factors; growth factor receptors; human myeloid progenitors; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : All hematopoietic cells are derived from the hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in a continuous and dynamic process, regulated by a network of transcription factors in different combinations and extrinsic signals from growth factors (GFs) and other factors in the microenvironment. In the initial stages of hematopoiesis HSCs differentiate to progenitor cells with gradually more restricted lineage potential and according to the most accepted model the first restriction in developmental potential results in commitment to either the lymphoid or the myeloid branch, in the latter followed by commitment to the neutrophil/monocyte and erythrocyte/megakaryocyte lineages.
