1. PARENTS’ POSTNATAL SENSE OF SECURITY (PPSS)- developing an instrument and description of important factors based on mothers’ and fathers’ experiences
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to develop and evaluate a specific instrument, measuring both mothers’ and fathers’ postnatal sense of security during the first postnatal week, and to explore and describe important factors associated with this. Data was collected from 2003 to 2009. LÄS MER
2. Ontogenetic and comparative aspects of cerebellar and motor development
Sammanfattning : During the course of development the motor repertoire of animals and humans alike go through dramatic changes. New motor patterns arise; movements become coordinated, improve in precision and are at the same time continuously calibrated to the changing body dimensions. The cerebellum is critical for movement coordination and adaptation in adults. LÄS MER
3. The role of PDGF-A in lung development, injury and repair
Sammanfattning : The developmental processes that take place during embryogenesis depend on a great number of proteins that are important for cell-to-cell communication. Platelet-derived growth factors are known to be important for epithelial-mesenchymal interactions during development and organogenesis. LÄS MER
4. NO PAIN, STILL GAIN- cross-modality development learning guided by spinal spontaneous activity
Sammanfattning : Recent studies indicate that experience dependent mechanisms shape the pain system during the development. In view of that painful stimuli are rare during development it is not clear how this is accomplished. LÄS MER
5. Development of the gastrointestinal tract in young mammals : Effects of enteral provocation with protease or phytohaemagglutinin in neonatal rats
Sammanfattning : The rat, as an altritial species, is born with an immature gastrointestinal tract and intestinal barrier function, which is highly absorptive to milk-borne bioactive molecules that can pass undigested and reach the general circulation of the suckling newborn. This passage occurs by the neonatal-Fc-receptor (FcRn) binding and trancytosis of immunoglobulin G in the proximal small intestine (SI) and by the highly endocytic vacuolated enterocytes non-selectively in the distal SI.
