Sammanfattning : European societies have experienced extensive secularization. However, the impact of religion in governing people’s political attitudes and behaviors persists, which has been enhanced by several recent developments, including the growing salience of religious and conservative values for the remaining committed religious people, the rise of radical right parties that use Christianity in their anti-immigrant and nationalist rhetoric, and the increasing number of immigrants from outside Europe that contribute to the diversification of religion in European societies. 4. Nature, culture, rights : exploring space for indigenous agency in protected area discourses
Sammanfattning : There is considerable geographical overlap between areas set aside for nature conservation or protection and Indigenous peoples’ lands, and the social, economic, and political consequences of protected areas have often been extensive for Indigenous peoples. Discourses of conservation converge with discourses of Indigenous peoples, and both carry a legacy of colonial constructs and relationships. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : The research problem that this dissertation addresses is how and with what implications the use of force in ‘distant’ places is made seen and known at home. As practices change and ‘peacework’ is becoming increasingly violent, the book argues that it is imperative to examine how war ‘comes home’ and to what extent the narratives emerging in public discourse open up for public reflection and (re)consideration.
