  1. 1. Symmetries and conservation laws

    Författare :Raisa Khamitova; Börje Nilsson; Claes Jougréus; Maria Luz Gandarias; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; conservation law; Noether s theorem; Lie group analysis; Lie-Bäcklund transformations; basis of conservation laws; formal Lagrangian; self-adjoint equation; quasi-selfadjoint; equation; nonlocal conservation law; Mathematical physics; Matematisk fysik; Conservation law; Noether’s theorem; quasi-self-adjoint equation;

    Sammanfattning : Conservation laws play an important role in science. The aim of this thesis is to provide an overview and develop new methods for constructing conservation laws using Lie group theory. The derivation of conservation laws for invariant variational problems is based on Noether’s theorem. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Population genetic analyses in the orchid genus Gymnadenia : a conservation genetic perspective

    Författare :Susanne Gustafsson; Pia Mutikainen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Genetic engineering; Orchidaceae; Gymnadenia; conservation; microsatellites; genetic structure; mating pattern; Genteknik; Genetic engineering including functional genomics; Genteknik inkl. funktionsgenomik; naturvårdsbiologi; Conservation Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Small populations are facing a particular risk of extinction due to a lack of appropriate genetic diversity and associated negative effects, factors dealt with in the discipline of conservation genetics. Many orchid species exhibit characteristics that make them a perfect study object in the scope of conservation genetics. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Pastoralists, Mobility and Conservation : Shifting rules of access and control of grazing resources in Kenya's northern drylands

    Författare :Annemiek Pas Schrijver; Lowe Börjeson; Elizabeth E. Watson; Mats Widgren; Caroline Upton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; pastoralism; livestock mobility; conservation; community conservancy; Northern Rangelands Trust; political ecology; access; institutions; governmentality; territoriality; Samburu; Laikipia; Isiolo; Kenya; Geography with Emphasis on Human Geography; geografi med kulturgeografisk inriktning;

    Sammanfattning : Pastoral mobility is seen as the most effective strategy to make use of constantly shifting resources. In northern Kenya, mobile pastoralism as a highly-valued strategy to manage grazing areas and exploit resource variability is becoming more complex. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Behavioural aspects of conservation breeding : Red junglefowl (Gallus gallus) as a case study

    Författare :Jennie Håkansson; Per Jensen; Elsbeth McPhee; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Behaviour; Conservation; Red junglefowl; Gallus gallus; Captivity; Ethology and behavioural ecology; Etologi och beteendeekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Ett stort antal utrotningshotade djurarter ingår idag i bevarandeprogram världen över. Små populationer hålls då i skyddade miljöer, exempelvis i djurparker, och i många fall är målet att återintroducera djur till naturen. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :masonry.; paint; interpretation; Shaker architecture; wood; mortar; conservation; Second Meetinghouse; plaster; The Mount Lebanon Project; authenticity; preservation; Architectural conservation; conservation assessment; Shaker Museum and Library; NARA document; heritage values; lime; feasibility study; craftsmanship; materials analyses; intangible dimensions; Mount Lebanon Shaker Society;

    Sammanfattning : AbstractThis work is an investigation into the state-of-the-art of architectural conservation, from an international and interdisciplinary perspective. It explores issues, methodologies, and tools applicable to heritage resource assessments - from an architectural conservators point of view - and its aim is to generate appropriate approaches, methodologies and tools to holistically assess both the tangible and intangible aspects of significant architecture from the past.
