11. Methodological Studies on Models and Methods for Mixed-Effects Categorical Data Analysis
Sammanfattning : Effects of drugs are in clinical trials often measured on categorical scales. These measurements are increasingly being analyzed using mixed-effects logistic regression. However, the experience with such analyzes is limited and only a few models are used. LÄS MER
12. Pharmacokinetics - Effect Relations of Glibenclamide and its Metabolites in Humans
Sammanfattning : Glibenclamide (Gb) is the most commonly employed sulphonylurea worldwide for the treatment of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM). There has been uncertainty concerning its pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD). LÄS MER
13. Clinical pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modelling of 5a-reductase inhibitors for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia
Sammanfattning : Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a potent androgen necessary for the development of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is formed from testosterone by the enzyme 5α-reductase, of which there are two types. The irreversible 5α-reductase inhibitors dutasteride, which inhibits both isozymes, and finasteride, which inhibits only one, are intended for the treatment of BPH. LÄS MER
14. Methodological Studies on Covariate Model Building in Population Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic Analysis
Sammanfattning : Population pharmacokinetic (PK) – pharmacodynamic (PD) modelling, using nonlinear mixed effects models, is increasingly being applied to obtain PK-PD information in drug development. Covariate modelling, the establishment of relationships between model parameters and patient characteristics, is undertaken to explain PK-PD variability and facilitate dose adjustment decisions, and is consequently an important objective of population PK-PD. 15. Quantifying effects of antimicrobial drug combinations by modelling and simulation
Sammanfattning : Antibiotic resistance is becoming an accelerating issue, both in the treatment of nosocomial infections and for public health in general. There is a pressing need for innovative methods to understand how available antibiotics could be combined to overcome and limit the emergence of resistance. LÄS MER
