  1. 1. Stress : Clinical and Developmental Aspects of Salivary Cortisol in Infants

    Författare :Katrin Ivars; Nina Nelson-Follin; Evalotte Mörelius; Annette Theodorsson; Mikael Norman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : A functional stress-response system is essential for survival at birth, as well as for health and further development. Altered cortisol response and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system function may have both short and long-term effects on health and development throughout life. Cortisol secretion follows a circadian rhythm in adults. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Migraine and Stress : An Internet administered Multimodal Behavioral Treatment Intervention

    Författare :Kerstin Hedborg; Carin Muhr; Ulla Maria Anderberg; Töres Theorell; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Awakening Cortisol Response; Cognitive Behavioral Treatment; Gender; Hand Massage; Internet; Life Events; Migraine; Multimodal; Personality; Salivary Cortisol; Stress; Stress Marker; Stress Susceptibility; Neurology; Neurologi; Neurology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : Migraine is a disabling neurological disorder with high prevalence, the clinical manifestations of which are highly dependent on stress.The overall theme of the present thesis was to address aspects of stress in migraine. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Stress in chickens : Effects of domestication and early experience on behaviour and welfare

    Författare :Maria Ericsson; Per Jensen; Linda Keeling; Bjarne Braastad; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The domestication is the process where animals have adapted to human conditions. A prerequisite for domestication is tame behaviour towards humans and subsequently, selection for other desirable traits took place which led to changes in several behavioural and physiological parameters. 4. 4. The oxidative stress response of Francisella tularensis

    Författare :Marie Honn; Anders Sjöstedt; Helena Lindgren; Andres Melendez; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Francisella tularensis; FupA; MglA; OxyR; ROS; oxidative stress; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Francisella tularensis is capable of infecting numerous cell types, including professional phagocytes. Upon phagocytosis, F. tularensis resides within the phagosome before escaping into the cytosol to replicate. Phagocytes constitute a hostile environment rich in ROS, which are employed as a means of killing pathogens. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Coping with Stress : Regulation of the Caulobacter crescentus cell cycle in response to environmental cues

    Författare :Kristina Heinrich; Kristina Jonas; Emanuele Biondi; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Caulobacter crescentus; bacteria; cell cycle; stress; filamentation; cell morphology; DNA replication; cell division; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : All organisms have to respond to environmental changes to maintain cellular and genome integrity. In particular, unicellular organisms like bacteria must be able to analyze their surroundings and rapidly adjust their growth mode and cell cycle program in response to environmental changes, such as changes in nutrient availability, temperature, osmolarity, or pH.
