  1. 11. Ultimate and Residual Strength Assessment of Ship Structures

    Författare :Artjoms Kuznecovs; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ship structures; collision; corrosion; residual strength; ultimate strength; age-related degradation; nonlinear FEA; Smith method;

    Sammanfattning : The prevention of ship structural failures and reduction of accident consequences contribute to increased safety at sea and reduced environmental impact. A need for reliable and efficient ship designs facilitates knowledge accumulation and the development of tools for the assessment of hull structural responses to acting loads. LÄS MER

  2. 12. On reliability-based design of rock tunnel support

    Författare :William Bjureland; Stefan Larsson; Fredrik Johansson; Johan Spross; Lars Rosén; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rock engineering; reliability-based design; Eurocode 7; observational method; tunnel engineering; Bergmekanik; sannolikhetsbaserad dimensionering; Eurokod 7; observationsmetoden; tunnelbyggnation.; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Tunneling involves large uncertainties. Since 2009, design of rock tunnels in European countries should be performed in accordance with the Eurocodes. The main principle in the Eurocodes is that it must be shown in all design situations that no relevant limit state is exceeded. LÄS MER

  3. 13. CFD MODELLING AND EXPERIMENTS ON AERATOR FLOW IN CHUTE SPILLWAYS

    Författare :Penghua Teng; James Yang; Anders Wörman; Anton Schleiss; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Spillway Aerator; Cavitation; Air Entrainment; Two-phase Flow; VOF; Mixture Model; Two-Fluid Model; Air Cavity; Cavity Air Pressure; Air Concentration; Shadowgraphic Image Method SIM ; High-speed Particle Image Velocimetry HSPIV ; Bubble Tracking Method BTM ; luftningsramp; kavitation; luftinträngning; tvåfasflöde; VOF; Mixture Model; Two-Fluid Model; luftkavitet; kavitetslufttryck; luftkoncentration; skuggrafisk bildmetod; hastighetsmätning med höghastighetspartikelfotografering; bubbelspårningsmetod; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : A chute spillway is a typical component of large dams for discharging floods. Because of the high water head, the flow velocity in the chute is often in excess of 20 m/s. Consequently, the structure is usually prone to cavitation damages. Flow aeration is evidenced to efficiently eliminate or to mitigate the damages. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Numerical Vlasov–Maxwell Modelling of Space Plasma

    Författare :Bengt Eliasson; Bertil Gustafsson; Bo Thidé; Anders Bondeson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Vlasov equation; Maxwell equation; Fourier method; outflow boundary; domain decomposition; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : The Vlasov equation describes the evolution of the distribution function of particles in phase space (x,v), where the particles interact with long-range forces, but where shortrange "collisional" forces are neglected. A space plasma consists of low-mass electrically charged particles, and therefore the most important long-range forces acting in the plasma are the Lorentz forces created by electromagnetic fields. 5. 15. Ice load prediction for design of ice-going ships for inland waterways

    Författare :Meng Zhang; Karl Garme; Magnus Burman; Malin Åkermo; Pentti Kujala; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inland waterway ship; ice load; ice conditions; ice properties; FSICR; probabilistic method; ice-hull interaction; numerical model; structural response; finite element analysis; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : With increasing interest in utilizing the inland waterways (IWW) in European countries, the design of IWW vessels gains attention both from a transport efficiency and an emission control point of view. However, unlike in western and central European countries, in Nordic countries, e.g. LÄS MER
