  1. 1. On finite element schemes for Vlasov-Maxwell system and Schrödinger equation

    Författare :Christoffer Standar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nonlinear Schrödinger equation; Nitsche scheme; Streamline diffusion; Vlasov-Maxwell; a posteriori error analysis; a priori error analysis; hp-scheme; a posteriori error analysis;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis treats finite element schemes for two kind of problems, the Valsov-Maxwellsystem and the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We study streamline diffusion schemes applied for numerical solution of the one and one-half dimensional relativistic Vlasov-Maxwell system. The study is made both in a priori and a posteriori settings. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Numerical Vlasov–Maxwell Modelling of Space Plasma

    Författare :Bengt Eliasson; Bertil Gustafsson; Bo Thidé; Anders Bondeson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Vlasov equation; Maxwell equation; Fourier method; outflow boundary; domain decomposition; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : The Vlasov equation describes the evolution of the distribution function of particles in phase space (x,v), where the particles interact with long-range forces, but where shortrange "collisional" forces are neglected. A space plasma consists of low-mass electrically charged particles, and therefore the most important long-range forces acting in the plasma are the Lorentz forces created by electromagnetic fields. 3. 3. Symmetries and conservation laws

    Författare :Raisa Khamitova; Börje Nilsson; Claes Jougréus; Maria Luz Gandarias; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; conservation law; Noether s theorem; Lie group analysis; Lie-Bäcklund transformations; basis of conservation laws; formal Lagrangian; self-adjoint equation; quasi-selfadjoint; equation; nonlocal conservation law; Mathematical physics; Matematisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Conservation laws play an important role in science. The aim of this thesis is to provide an overview and develop new methods for constructing conservation laws using Lie group theory. The derivation of conservation laws for invariant variational problems is based on Noether’s theorem. LÄS MER

  4. 4. An Experimental and Theoretical Study of the Mass Transport in Lithium-Ion Battery Electrolytes

    Författare :Andreas Nyman; Göran Lindbergh; Mårten Behm; Signe Kjelstrup; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lithium‐ion batteries; Electrolytes; Transport properties; Conductivity; Diffusion coefficients; Transport number; Maxwell-Stefan equation; Simulations; Mathematical analysis; Polarization; Hybrid electric vehicles; Litiumjonbatterier; Aprotiska elektrolyter; Transport egenskaper; Konduktivitet; Diffusion koefficienter; Transporttal; Maxwell-Stefans ekvation; Simuleringar; Matematisk analys; Polarisation; Elhybridfordon; Electrochemistry; Elektrokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Lithium‐ion batteries are particularly suitable as energy storage solutions in high power applications, such as hybrid electric vehicles. It is generally considered that one of the processes that limit the power density for lithium‐ion batteries is the mass transport in the electrolyte. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On the Einstein-Vlasov system: Stationary Solutions and Small Data Solutions with Charged and Massless Particles

    Författare :Maximilian Thaller; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Static Solutions; Vector Field Method; non-linear wave equation; massless Einstein-Vlasov system; General Relativity; Conformal Einstein Field Equations; Minkowski stability; Vlasov matter; symmetric hyperbolic system; Einstein-Vlasov-Maxwell system;

    Sammanfattning : The Vlasov matter model describes an ensemble of collisionless particles moving through space-time. These particles interact via the gravitational field which they create collectively. In the framework of General Relativity this gravitational field is described by space-time curvature. LÄS MER
