    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the most common cause of death in large parts of the world. Atherosclerosis (AS) has a major part in most CVDs. AS is a slowly developingdisease which is dependent on multiple factors such as genetics and life style (food, smoking, and physical activities). LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Track damage due to progressively increasing tonnage, especially due to longer and heavier freight trains, is one of the major problems faced in the European rail sector. In this context, to stay competitive, optimal track maintenance practices, track-friendly vehicles and safe operations of long freight trains assume prominence. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The ability to stand still in one place is important in a variety of activities of daily living. For persons with motion disorders, orthopaedic treatment, which changes geometric or biomechanical properties, can improve the individual'sposture and walking ability. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Inflation and Instabilities of Hyperelastic Membranes

    Författare :Amit Patil; Anders Eriksson; Arne Nordmark; Peter Hansbo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Membranes; Constrained inflation; Energy release rate; Adhesive contact condition; Limit point; Bifurcation point; Wrinkling; Tension field theory; Pressure induced instability.; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The applications of membranes are increasing rapidly in various fields of engineering and science. The geometric, material, force and contact non-linearities complicate their analysis, which increases the demand for computationally efficient methods and interpretation of counter-intuitive behaviours. 5. 5. On efficient and adaptive modelling of friction damping in bladed disks

    Författare :Mohammad Afzal; Leif Kari; Ines Lopez Arteaga; Muzio M Gola; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High cycle fatigue; Friction contact; Jacobian matrix; Shroud contact; Strip damper; Multiharmonic balance method; Contact stiffness; Cyclic symmetry; Nodal diameter; Magnetostrictive actuator; Magnetic field; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : This work focuses on efficient modelling and adaptive control of friction damping in bladed disks. To efficiently simulate the friction contact, a full-3D time-discrete contact model is reformulated and an analytical expression for the Jacobian matrix is derived that reduces the computation time drastically with respect to the classical finite difference method.
