   Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis was to describe long-term development of functional outcomes in children with cerebral palsy undergoing selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) combined with physiotherapy and to evaluate measures used in follow-up. Five years after SDR muscle tone was reduced, passive range of motion (PROM) increased in hip, knee and foot, gross motor function measured by the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) improved as well as functional performance and independence by the Pediatric Evaluation Disability Inventory.    Sammanfattning : Background: A majority of patients suffering from sciatica caused by lumbar disc herniation experience a positive natural history and respond well to non-surgical treatment. Patients who fail conservative treatment and are treated surgically have been reported to get satisfactory result in about 70-90% in short-term (1-2 year) follow-up. LÄS MER

   Sammanfattning : To accommodate the passage of wheels in intersecting traffic routes, fixed railway crossings have discontinuous rails leading to an intense load environment due to repeated wheel-rail impacts. This gives rise to high costs associated with repair and maintenance of the rails in the crossing.    Sammanfattning : Cables insulated with plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) were aged at temperatures between 80 and 180 °C in air and their conditions were assessed by indenter modulus measurements, tensile testing, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and liquid chromatography (HPLC). Electrical testing of oven-aged cable samples was performed in order to relate the electrical functionality during a high-energy line break accident to the mechanical properties and to establish a lifetime criterion.
