  1. 6. Three - dimensional ultrasound studies of the cervix in pregnancy

    Författare :Linas Rovas; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; Prostaglandin .; Labor induction .; Spontaneous delivery .; Pregnancy .; Cervix uteri .; Blood flow indices .; Doppler ultrasound .; Three-dimensional imaging .; sexuality; reproduction; Obstetrik; sexualitet; reproduktion; gynekologi; andrologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate cervical physiological changes by three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound during pregnancy and to investigate the ability of 3D power Doppler to predict time to spontaneous and induced delivery in prolonged pregnancy. The thesis is based on five studies: reproducibility of cervical measurements by 3D power Doppler ultrasound (study I), reference data representative normal findings of the cervix assessed by 3D ultrasound during pregnancy (studies II, III) and the ability of 3D power Doppler to predict time to spontaneous and induced delivery in prolonged pregnancy. 2. 7. Modelling the Variability of Bending Strength in Structural Timber - Length and Load Configuration Effects

    Författare :Tord Isaksson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; code; reliability-based design; Weibull; test standard; load configuration effect; length effect; weak section; machine grading; visual grading; variability; Structural timber; bending strength; simulation; monte carlo simulation.; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The load carrying capacity of a beam of structural timber is dependent both on the span of the beam and the type of loading. The longer the beam and the more uniform the moment distribution, the lower the load carrying capacity. This phenomenon is due to the variability of material properties within a piece of timber. 3. 8. Cellulose Nanofibril Networks and Composites : Preparation, Structure and Properties

    Författare :Marielle Henriksson; Lars Berglund; Alain Dufresne; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cellulose nanocomposites; microfibrillated cellulose; nanofibrils; biofibers; mechanical properties; deformation mechanisms; molar mass; endoglucanase; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Träbaserade cellulosananofibriller är intressanta som förstärkande fas i polymera nanokompositer; detta främst på grund av den kristallina cellulosans höga styvhet och på grund av nanofibrillernas förmåga att bilda nätverk. Cellulosananofibriller kan användas i form av mikrokristallin cellulosa, MCC, som har lågt längd/diameter förhållande, eller i form av mikrofibrillerad cellulosa, MFC, med högt längd/diameter förhållande. 4. 9. Network Modelling for Evaluation of Mechanical Properties of Cellulose Fibre Fluff

    Författare :Susanne Heyden; Byggnadsmekanik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydraulic engineering; Civil engineering; fracture; fibres; computer simulation; offshore technology; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A network mechanics model for cellulose fibre fluff is proposed. 2D and 3D versions of the model have been implemented and the influence of various micro-level parameters on the global mechanical performance has been determined by means of computer simulations. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Precision measurement instruments for machinery's mechanical compliance: design and operation : Measurement instruments for physics-based calibration of advanced manufacturing machinery

    Författare :Nikolas Alexander Theissen; Andreas Archenti; Alexander Slocum; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Measurement instruments; Machine tools; Industrial robots; Production Engineering; Industriell produktion;

    Sammanfattning :  Precision Measurement Instruments (PMIs) for machinery’s mechanical compliance are tools to quantify mechanical load as well as length for measurement ranges of 0.1 µm to 10 m at uncertainty levels of 0.1 µm to 100 µm while exerting mechanical loads. LÄS MER
