  1. 1. Ion recombination in liquid ionization chambers : development of an experimental method to quantify general recombination

    Författare :Jonas Andersson; Heikki Tölli; Lennart Johansson; Anders Ahnesjö; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; General recombination; initial recombination; liquid ionization chamber; radiation dosimetry; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Sammanfattning : An experimental method (the two-dose-rate method) for the correction of general recombination losses in liquid ionization chambers has been developed and employed in experiments with different liquids and radiation qualities. The method is based on a disassociation of initial and general recombination, since an ionized liquid is simultaneously affected by both of these processes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Herpes Simplex Virus 1 DNA replication and its role in recombination and transcription

    Författare :Ka-Wei Tang; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Herpes Simplex Virus 1; DNA replication; DNA recombination; Transcription;

    Sammanfattning : Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) is one of nine different herpesvirus infecting man. They are all capable of establishing a life-long latent state following the primary infection. HSV-1 as well as other herpesviruses may reactivate from the latent state and give rise to a productive infection with clinical symptoms or asymptomatic shedding. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mechanisms and DNA Specificity in Site-specific Recombination of Integron Cassettes

    Författare :Carolina Johansson; Lars Sundström; Dan Andersson; Didier Mazel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Microbiology; lateral gene transfer; site-specific recombination; tyrosine recombinase; integron; single-stranded; DNA hairpin; Mikrobiologi; farmaceutisk mikrobiologi; Pharmaceutical Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterial resistance to antibiotics has become a serious problem. This is due to the remarkable ability of bacteria to respond and rapidly adapt to environmental changes. Integrons are elements with the capacity for gene capture by an integron-encoded site-specific recombinase called IntI. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Hole Transport Materials for Solid-State Mesoscopic Solar Cells

    Författare :Lei Yang; Anders Hagfeldt; Erik Johansson; Gerrit Boschloo; Fengling Zhang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; mesoscopic solar cells; solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells; organometallic halide perovskite; hole transport materials; mesoporous TiO2; conjugated polymer; sensitizer; transient absorption spectroscopy; photo-induced absorption spectroscopy; in-situ photoelectrochemical polymerization; spiro-OMeTAD; P3HT; TPAA; MeO-TPD; bis-EDOT; DEH; Li ion migration; charge recombination; electron lifetime;

    Sammanfattning : The solid-state mesoscopic solar cells (sMSCs) have been developed as a promising alternative technology to the conventional photovoltaics. However, the device performance suffers from the low hole-mobilities and the incomplete pore filling of the hole transport materials (HTMs) into the mesoporous electrodes. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Unveiling Mechanistic Details of Macromolecular Interactions: Structural Design and Molecular Modelling of DNA-Protein Systems in Their Active State

    Författare :Anna Reymer; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; molecular modelling; intercalation; homologous recombination; DNA; ruthenium II polypyridyl compounds; human Rad51;

    Sammanfattning : Molecular structure is fundamental for understanding mechanisms of molecular interactions. This applies not least to understanding biological function: every biological cell, whether bacterial or human, is an immensely complex system of thousands of molecules that exist in constant motion and interaction with each other.
