16. Strategies for postoperative adhesion control
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Abdominal surgery almost inevitably leads to adhesion formation, which often results in substantial morbidity. The formation of postsurgical adhesions seems to be determined by the balance of fibrin deposition and degradation in an early phase of peritoneal tissue repair. LÄS MER
17. NMR diffusion studies on lyotropic liquid crystalline systems
Sammanfattning : The pulsed field gradient fourier transform nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG-FTNMR) method to measure translational diffusion coefficients in multicomponent systems has been applied to amphiphilic molecules forming liquid crystalline phases.By analyzing the concentration dependence of the diffusion coefficients of water and amphiphile in a micellar system of N,N-dimethyldodecy lamine oxide (DDAO) in water it was possible to conclude that the micelles formed were polydisperse in size and shape. 18. Lipid-based liquid crystals as drug delivery vehicles for antimicrobial peptides
Sammanfattning : The development of antimicrobial resistance is a great challenge within health sectors worldwide. Thus, demand for new, efficient treatments is urgent in order to treat various bacterial infections. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are a group of antibiotics that have gained more and more attraction in the past decade. LÄS MER
19. Molecular Recognition Studies Based on Imprinting Technology
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I have focused on five main research areas: 1). A new type of imprinted polymer has been developed, namely the amide MIP. The amide functional monomers showed better hydrogen bonding capabilities in polar organic solvents and the resulting polymers exhibited good enantiomeric recognition properties in organic media. 20. Semipermeable membrane devices in monitoring of organic pollutants in the aquatic environment
Sammanfattning : Semipermeable membrane devices (SPMDs) are passive samplers capable of concentrating hydrophobic chemicals from water, sediments, soil and air. They consist of layflat polymeric membrane such as polyethylene containing a thin film of synthetic lipid such as triolein. LÄS MER
