21. Development of Gene Therapy for Hematopoietic Stem Cells using Lentiviral Vectors
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells are an ideal target for genetic manipulation for the purpose of curing hematological disorders as they have the ability to develop into all blood lineages and to self-renew. In this study we demonstrate that lentiviral vectors, based on HIV-1, can efficiently transfer genes into human hematopoietic progenitor and stem cells as assessed following stem cell transplantation in immune compromised mice. 22. Early Blood Cell Formation "in sickness and health, ´till death do us part"
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSC), the ancestors of all blood cells, have the ability to give rise to mature effector cells through a series of developmental steps. This is a tightly regulated, though a highly dynamic process: on the one hand, dysregulation in steady-state could lead to under- or overgrowth of certain blood cell lineages, whereas, on the other hand, demands for certain mature blood cells can change dramatically in cases like bleeding and infections. 23. THE HYPOXIC HEMATOPOIETIC STEM CELL NICHE Consequences of Hypoxia-induced Transcription on Stem Cell Fate
Sammanfattning : Hematopoiesis is the process of blood formation that originates with the hematopoietic stem cell (HSC), a cell type that is responsible for the life-long supply of mature blood cells. HSCs are defined by their ability to self-renew as well as giving rise to differentiated cells of all blood lineages. LÄS MER
24. The Role of Kit and Thrombopoietin in Regulation of Hematopoietic Stem Cells
Sammanfattning : The hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) is postulated to be the ultimate hematopoietic precursor providing production of mature blood cells, and is characterized by a life long capacity for self-renewal and multilineage differentiation. In a healthy human, the HSC produces 1,000,000,000,000 cells per day, illustrating the high turnover within the hematopoietic system and the need for replenishments by HSCs. LÄS MER
25. Modelling Human Developmental Hematopoiesis. Towards in vitro Generation of Human Hematopoietic Stem Cells
Sammanfattning : The possibility to manufacture hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in the laboratory would provide an indefinite source of cells for patients requiring bone marrow transplantation. Moreover, combined with the progress in gene editing techniques, it would provide a novel platform for gene and cell replacement therapies for a range of currently incurable congenic and acquired disorders.
