1. Development of Gene Therapy for Hematopoietic Stem Cells using Lentiviral Vectors
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells are an ideal target for genetic manipulation for the purpose of curing hematological disorders as they have the ability to develop into all blood lineages and to self-renew. In this study we demonstrate that lentiviral vectors, based on HIV-1, can efficiently transfer genes into human hematopoietic progenitor and stem cells as assessed following stem cell transplantation in immune compromised mice. 2. Screening for Candidate Brain Tumor Genes : Identifying Genes that Cooperate with Platelet-Derived Growth Factor in Glioma Development and Progression
Sammanfattning : Malignant primary brain tumors, gliomas, often overexpress both platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) ligands and receptors providing an autocrine and/or paracrine boost to tumor growth. Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most frequent glioma. Its aggressive and infiltrative growth renders it extremely difficult to treat. LÄS MER
3. Transcription, splicing and genetic structure within the human endogenous retroviral HERV-H family
Sammanfattning : Human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) are remains of ancient retroviral infections of the germ line and constitute as much as 3 % of the human genome. HERVs are genetic elements that potentially may provide important biological functions by several different mechanisms. LÄS MER
4. Improvement of adoptive T-cell therapy for Cancer
Sammanfattning : Cancer immunotherapy has recently made remarkable clinical progress. Adoptive transfer of T-cells engineered with a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) against CD19 has been successful in treatment of B-cell leukemia. LÄS MER
5. A genetic approach to the identification of new components regulating development in Arabidopsis thaliana
Sammanfattning : Two new genes involved in important processes of plant development were identified in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. The genes were isolated from mutants generated through insertional mutagenesis based on a transposon tagging approach. LÄS MER
