  1. 1. Switching ON Fetal B Lymphopoiesis

    Författare :Trine Kristiansen; Avdelningen för molekylär hematologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; B-1 B cells; Lin28; Fetal hematopoietic stem cells;

    Sammanfattning : B-1a cells are innate-like lymphocytes that develop primarily during fetal and neonatal life, whereas adult bone marrow (BM) hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) preferentially give rise to follicular B-2 cells. Functioning at the interface of the innate and adaptive immune systems, B-1a cells provide a non-redundant first line of defense prior to the temporally delayed establishment of a B-2 cell response. 2. 2. Fetal hematopoietic cells in early gestation : aspects in view of fetal transplantation

    Författare :Sverker Ek; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Fetal stem cells; fetal liver; fetal hematopoiesis; immunological ontogeny; fetal transplantation; cytokines; CD34 enrichment;

    Sammanfattning : The fetus as a patient is a challenge. There are opportunities for early, sometimes life-saving procedures or there may be advantages in prenatal rather than postnatal intervention. This is the case in fetal hematopoietic cell (FHC) transplantation where conditions caused by a defect in blood cell formation may be life-threatening to the fetus. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hox transcription factors in hematopoiesis

    Författare :Jon Mar Björnsson; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; Haematology; hematopoies; tet; Hox; cre lox;

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoiesis is a lifelong, dynamic process in which a small number of pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) residing in the bone marrow (BM) give rise to billions of mature blood cells of both myeloid and lymphoid origin each day. This enormous capacity of HSC has been utilized in BM transplantations for 4 decades and is also very important for future gene therapy. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulation of Hematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cells by Bone Marrow Niche Components

    Författare :Hong Qian; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; stem cell; Hematologi; extracellular fluids; Haematology; bone marrow; Hematopoiesis; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : Throughout the lifespan of an individual, enormous numbers of mature blood cells are generated by hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in the bone marrow (BM). The HSC is a cell that can self-renew to maintain the HSC pool and differentiate into all types of mature blood cells. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Maintenance and Commitment of Hematopoietic Progenitors: Role of flt3, c-kit and c-mpl

    Författare :Ole Johan Borge; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; KL; hematopoiesis; FL; cytokines; B-cells; commitment; flt3; differentiation; Haematology; IL-7; c-kit; progenitors; Hematologi; stem cells; thrombopoietin; viability; extracellular fluids; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : The need for red blood cells to transport oxygen and CO2, blood platelets to stop bleedings, and neutrophils, macrophages, B- and T-cells for host defense, is a prerequisite for life. These mature blood cells have a limited life span and are thus constantly replenished by an enormous cell production (estimated to 1012 cells per day) which primarily takes place in the bone marrow (BM).
