  1. 1. Antibody Feedback Regulation : From Epitope Masking to T Helper Cell Activation

    Författare :Andrew Getahun; Birgitta Heyman; Hans-Gustaf Ljunggren; Daniel Conrad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; Immune regulation; B cells; T cells; Antibodies; Fc Receptors; Antigen presentation; Transgenic Knockout Mice; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Antibodies have the ability to influence the antibody response against the very antigen they are specific for, in a process called antibody feedback regulation. Depending on the nature of the antigen, the antibody response can be either enhanced or almost completely inhibited. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modulation of B cell access to antigen by passively administered antibodies : an explanation for antibody feedback regulation?

    Författare :Hui Xu; Birgitta Heyman; Helena Harris; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgG; IgG3; IgE; suppression; enhancement; epitope masking; antigen transport; antigen presentation; follicular B cells; marginal zone B cells; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Antibody responses can be up- or down-regulated by passive administration of specific antibody together with antigen. Depending on the structure of the antigen and the antibody isotype, responses can be completely suppressed or enhanced up to a 1000-fold of what is seen in animals immunized with antigen alone. 3. 3. A Search for the Masked Mechanism Behind IgG-Mediated Suppression of Antibody Responses

    Författare :Joakim Bergström; Birgitta Heyman; Jenny Hallgren Martinsson; Frida Henningsson Johnson; Mats Bemark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; FcγR; complement; sheep erythrocytes; IgG-mediated immune suppression; rhesus prophylaxis; rhesus D antigen; germinal center; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Antibodies passively administered together with their specific antigen can enhance or suppress the specific antibody response. This phenomenon is known as antibody feedback regulation. Whether this modulation causes up- or downregulation of the antibody response depends both on the antibody isotype and the antigen used. 4. 4. Soluble amyloid-β aggregates in Alzheimer’s disease

    Författare :Hillevi Englund; Frida Ekholm Pettersson; Lars NG Nilsson; Lars Lannfelt; Dominic M Walsh; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Geriatrics and medical gerontology; Geriatrik och medicinsk gerontologi; Geriatrics; geriatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Soluble oligomeric aggregates of the amyloid-β (Aβ) peptide are suggested to initiate Alzheimer's disease (AD), leading to impaired synapse signalling, widespread neuronal death and loss of cognitive functions. These aggregates seem tightly linked to disease progression, and have therefore gained much attention as potential novel disease markers. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Aspects of N-glycosylation in human IgE

    Författare :Johanna Da Luz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The medical interest of allergy in industrialised societies has generated a much greater knowledge about the pathophysiology of IgE-mediated responses than about its normal physiological role. Because of the central role of IgE in allergic inflammation, neutralisation of effector functions and inhibition of IgE-synthesis are attractive means of therapy. LÄS MER
