  1. 41. Efficient commuter craft for urban waterborne public transportation

    Författare :Harsha Cheemakurthy; Karl Garme; Joakim Kalantari; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; waterborne public transportation; commuter ferry; modular design; operational requirements; ranking method; sustainable performance; ice operations; ice-hull Interaction; ice load; ice properties; kollektivtrafik på vatten; modulärt färjekoncept; modulär design; rankningsmetod; hållbarhetsparametrar; isbelastning; isförhållanden; isegenskaper; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : There has been a recent surge in interest in waterborne public transportation (WPT). Publictransport providers (PTP) are seeing its potential in complementing the existing transportnetwork and alleviating urban traffic congestion and pollution. But the adoption of WPTtoday is challenging due to a series of technical and implementation challenges. LÄS MER

  2. 42. High Frequency Model of Electrified Railway Propulsion System for EMC Analysis

    Författare :Kelin Jia; Rajeev Thottappillil; Hans Bängtsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electromagnetic compatibility; railway; propulsion system; multitransmission line; ac motor modeling; vector fitting; fast transient;

    Sammanfattning : A model of the electrified railway propulsion system working in a wide frequency range is studied in this thesis. The high frequency modeling is the first stage to study and predict the Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problems in the electrified railway propulsion system, which are safety and reliability issues of high concern. 3. 43. Biomechanical Parameter Estimation for Wearable Exoskeleton System Design

    Författare :Longbin Zhang; Elena Gutierrez Farewik; Ruoli Wang; Christian Smith; Max Ortiz Catalan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hill-type muscle model; generalization; transfer learning; computationally modeling; human-machine system; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Exoskeletons are increasingly used in rehabilitation and daily life in persons with motor disorders after neurological injuries. The overall objective of this thesis is to study how to robustly and accurately predict joint torque using inputs from sensors that would technically be feasible to equip on an assistive exoskeleton, and to develop a framework that could be used to evaluate the user-exoskeleton interface. 4. 44. Meeting ethical and nutritional challenges in elder care : the life world and system world of staff and high level decision-makers

    Författare :Anna-Greta Mamhidir; Högskolan i Gävle; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Ethical challenges; malnutrition; older adults; elder care staff; integrity promoting care; high level decision-makers; life world; system world.; Ethical challenges; malnutrition; older adults; elder care staff; integrity promoting care; high level decision-makers; life world; system world.;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis was to describe the issue of malnutrition and use it as a focal point of interest in elder care. A further aim was to illuminate how this issue could be addressed focusing on older adults’ integrity and high level decision-makers’ reasoning about ethically difficult situations (I-IV). LÄS MER

  5. 45. Inhibition of the plasma contact system on endpoint immobilized heparin and human endothelium

    Författare :Javier Augusto Sánchez Saavedra; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Contact activation system; FXII; prokallikrein; antithrombin; specific AT-binding site; immobilized heparin; heparan sulphate; endothelium;

    Sammanfattning : When blood is exposed to foreign materials or injured tissue, several defense systems are activated. The contact with an artificial surface leads to activation of FXII, the first proenzyme of the plasma contact activation system, with concomitant triggering of the intrinsic coagulation and also the fibrinolytic-, kallikrein- and complement systems.
