    Sammanfattning : When blood is exposed to foreign materials or injured tissue, several defense systems are activated. The contact with an artificial surface leads to activation of FXII, the first proenzyme of the plasma contact activation system, with concomitant triggering of the intrinsic coagulation and also the fibrinolytic-, kallikrein- and complement systems.     Sammanfattning : We have previously developed a laboratory method that may screen the Overall Haemostasis Potential (OHP) in plasma based on spectophotometric measurement of an area under the fibrin aggregation curve in citrated plasma samples to which tiny amounts of exogenous thrombin and tissue-plasminogen activator (t-PA) are added. When the fibrin aggregation curve is created, the fibrinogen originally present in plasma is gradually converted to fibrin by the generated thrombin. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes a new in vitro slide chamber model that makes it possible to conduct studies of molecular and cellular interactions between whole blood and biomaterials.
