  1. 36. Resonator sensor technique for medical use : an intraocular pressure measurement system

    Författare :Anders Eklund; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sensor; Vibration; Hardness; Prostate; intraocular pressure; resonator; eye; applanation; glaucoma;

    Sammanfattning : In the work of this doctoral dissertation a new resonator sensor technique, first presented in 1989, has been further developed and evaluated with focus on technical characteristics and applications within the medical field. In a first part a catheter-type tactile sensor using the resonator sensor technique was evaluated in a silicone model and applied to human prostate in vitro. LÄS MER

  2. 37. Nanomechanics – Quantum Size Effects, Contacts, and Triboelectricity

    Författare :Martin Olsen; Jonas Örtegren; Håkan Olin; Per Gradin; Peter Glans; Rusen Yang; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :triboelectricity; adatom; ion; charge; mound; quantum size effect; triboelctric nanogenerator; TENG; wind driven; contact; nanomechanics; fri electron model; nanowire cantilever;

    Sammanfattning : Nanomechanics is different from the mechanics that we experience in everyday life. At the nano-scale, typically defined as 1 to 100 nanometers, some phenomena are of crucial importance, while the same phenomena can be completely neglected on a larger scale. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Host response in sepsis

    Författare :Ingrid Berkestedt; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; severe sepsis; contact system; glycosaminoglycan; antimicrobial peptide; human;

    Sammanfattning : Sepsis is a serious condition characterized by a systemic inflammatory response to an infection. Increased vascular leakage, vasodilation and heart failure cause circulatory disturbances challenging the intensivist. Despite modern medication and high technology supportive care, mortality is high. LÄS MER

  4. 39. Ice load prediction for design of ice-going ships for inland waterways

    Författare :Meng Zhang; Karl Garme; Magnus Burman; Malin Åkermo; Pentti Kujala; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inland waterway ship; ice load; ice conditions; ice properties; FSICR; probabilistic method; ice-hull interaction; numerical model; structural response; finite element analysis; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : With increasing interest in utilizing the inland waterways (IWW) in European countries, the design of IWW vessels gains attention both from a transport efficiency and an emission control point of view. However, unlike in western and central European countries, in Nordic countries, e.g. LÄS MER

  5. 40. Hydroelasticity in Marine Hull Bottom Panels - Modeling and Characterization

    Författare :Ivan Stenius; Dan Zenkert; Pandeli Temarel; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluid-structure interaction; hydroelasticity; hull-water impact; high-speed craft; slamming; explicit finite element methods; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The work in this thesis is concerned with the localized problem of hydroelasticity in marine panel-water impacts with an overall aim to increase the efficiency of high-speed craft by application of more refined methods in the structural design. The work mainly focuses on numerical modeling of the hydroelastic problem and therewith related aspects in the modeling and characterization of hydroelasticity. LÄS MER
