31. Non-contact surface wave measurements on pavements
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, nondestructive surface wave measurements are presented for characterization of dynamic modulus and layer thickness on different pavements and cement concrete slabs. Air-coupled microphones enable rapid data acquisition without physical contact with the pavement surface. LÄS MER
32. Optimization of Structures in Contact
Sammanfattning : This dissertation addresses the problem of developing theory, algorithms and computational methodology for optimization of structures in contact. Three particular research problems are studied: (i) developing efficient and reliable optimization algorithms for solving structural optimization problems including contact, (ii) creating more realistic state problems for structures in frictional contact, and (iii) developing computational methodology for shape optimization of structures in frictionless contact. 33. "A syndrome so characteristic" Molecular and clinical studies of Fusobacterium necrophorum and Lemierre's syndrome
Sammanfattning : Lemierre’s syndrome is caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum and involves tonsillitis, jugular vein thrombophlebitis and septic pulmonary emboli. The first studies underlying this thesis focused on bacterial interaction with coagulation. LÄS MER
34. NO Effect on Inflammatory Reaction in Extracorporeal Circulation : Ex vivo Studies
Sammanfattning : Nitric oxide (NO) is expressed in inflammatory tissues. However, NO effects are controversial in inflammation; NO is described as acting in a dose dependent manner and possess both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory properties. LÄS MER
35. Friction and contact phenomena of disc brakes related to squeal
Sammanfattning : Brake squeal is a sound with a main frequency between 1 and 20 kHz, generated by an oscillation of the components of the brake system. The energy driving the oscillation is supplied by the friction between the disc and the pads. LÄS MER
