  1. 6. The Actin Filament System : Its Involvement in Cell Migration and Neurotransmitter Release

    Författare :Anna-Karin Johnsson; Roger Karlsson; Stéphane Gasman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Actin; Profilin; Synaptotagmin; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The microfilament system consists of actin filaments as the major component and is regulated by a number of actin binding proteins. It is juxtaposed to the plasma membrane where it forms a dense cortical weave from where it pervades into the cell interior. LÄS MER

  2. 7. TGF-beta signaling in cancer

    Författare :Erik Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TGF-β; proliferation; cancer; tumor suppressor; diffuse-type gastric carcinoma; neuroblastoma; nuclear receptor TLX; cancer stem cell; angiogenesis; ABCG2; VHL; HIF2α; hypoxia; Smad3;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-β) is a cytokine regulating a wide range of cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, and migration. At the early stages of cancer development TGF-β functions as a tumor suppressor, mainly due to its inhibitory effect on cellular growth, but during cancer progression, mutations in TGF-β signal components switches TGF-β into a promoter of cancer cell proliferation, survival and metastasis. 3. 8. Mast Cell Migration in Inflammatory Diseases

    Författare :Niclas Olsson; Gunnar Nilsson; Jaroslaw Dastych; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pathology; Mast cells; chemotaxis; inflammation; Patologi; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Mast cells (MCs) are forceful multifunctional effector cells of the immune system. MCs are normally distributed throughout connective and mucosal tissues, but in several pathological conditions accumulation of MCs occur. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Regulation of GRAF1 membrane sculpting function during cell movement

    Författare :Monika K. Francis; Richard Lundmark; Pekka Lappalainen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endocytosis; migration; polarisation; tension; CLIC GEEC; GRAF1; Rho GTPase; Cdc42; Rab8; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : All eukaryotic cells rely on endocytic events to satisfy a constant need for nutrient and fluid uptake from their surroundings. Endocytosis-dependent turnover of cell surface constituents also serves to control signal transduction and establish morphological changes in response to extracellular stimuli. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Identification and Characterization of Proteins and MicroRNAs that Modulate Receptor Signaling, Vesicular Trafficking and Cell Migration in Vascular Cells

    Författare :Johan Heldin; Johan Kreuger; Jonas Fuxe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Angiogenesis; cell migration; signaling; VEGF; FGD5; ExoC3L2; microRNA; RhoD; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Blood vessels deliver nutrients and oxygen to tissues. Importantly, the functions and growth of blood vessels are commonly altered in disease. The inside of all blood vessels are lined with endothelium, a thin specialized layer of endothelial cells that separate the blood from other tissues. LÄS MER
