  1. 1. Neural stam cells, TLX, and Neuroblastoma

    Författare :Ravi Kanth Rao Saini; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neuroblastoma; TLX; Neural Stem Cells; Dedifferentiation; DISC-1; DNA-PKcs;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma (NB) is one of the most commonly diagnosed extracranial tumors in children below five years of age. Moreover, NB accounts for almost 12-15% of all childhood cancer related fatalities. To date, the origin of NB has been linked to the neural crest derived sympathoadrenal progenitor cells. LÄS MER

  2. 2. TGF-beta signaling in cancer

    Författare :Erik Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TGF-β; proliferation; cancer; tumor suppressor; diffuse-type gastric carcinoma; neuroblastoma; nuclear receptor TLX; cancer stem cell; angiogenesis; ABCG2; VHL; HIF2α; hypoxia; Smad3;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-β) is a cytokine regulating a wide range of cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, and migration. At the early stages of cancer development TGF-β functions as a tumor suppressor, mainly due to its inhibitory effect on cellular growth, but during cancer progression, mutations in TGF-β signal components switches TGF-β into a promoter of cancer cell proliferation, survival and metastasis. 3. 3. Molecular mechanisms for lineage-restricted differentiation of adult neural progenitors

    Författare :Muna Elmi; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: In the central nervous system of several species, including humans, neurogenesis per?sists even in the adult life in discrete neurogenic regions of the brain. Adult neural stem cells derived from these neurogenic areas are proliferating cells, which can differentiate to neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes. LÄS MER
