  1. 11. Pattern-recognition receptors in airway inflammation

    Författare :Anna-Karin Ekman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Airway inflammation is a defining feature of allergic rhinitis and asthma. Bacterial and viral infections are known to cause exacerbations of both diseases, but knowledge about the mechanisms involved is limited. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Microvascular inflammatory response in the skin

    Författare :Vladimir Evilevitch; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Physiology; Fysiologi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; sodium nitroprusside; terbutaline; anandamide; TRPV1; skin prick test; vanilloid receptor; skin microcirculation; laser Doppler imaging; Plasma exudation; vasodilatation;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the microvascular inflammatory response in the skin. The microvascular response includes vasodilatation and plasma exudation. In the first three studies, the combined response was measured in guinea pig skin with a technique based on detection of radiolabelled protein. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Allergic rhinitis and intralymphatic vaccination : immune response and tolerance

    Författare :Eric Hjalmarsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The overall goal of this thesis was to study novel immunological mechanisms for the development of pollen-induced allergic rhinitis (AR) and to evaluate the clinical response in combination with immunological changes in AR patients treated with intralymphatic immunotherapy (ILIT). In paper I, an increased fraction of neutrophils were detected in the nasal mucosa of AR patients compared with healthy controls. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Intralymphatic immunotherapy in allergic rhinitis : evaluating safety, efficacy and mechanisms

    Författare :Laila Hellkvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Allergic rhinitis (AR) deprives work capacity, social activities and quality of life, and costs the Swedish society about €1.3 billion annually. Allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) amends the symptoms and improves the course of the disease. The symptom ameliorating effects last several years after the discontinuation of treatment. LÄS MER
