  1. 26. Integration of Arabidopsis and poplar model systems to elucidate gene function during wood formation

    Författare :Ellinor Edvardsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Wood is an essential raw material being used for a number of different applications including construction, pulp and paper production and as a source of biomass for bioenergy generation. The increasing number of sequenced plant genomes provides powerful tools to evaluate plant gene function. LÄS MER

    Författare :Daniel Decker; Leszek A. Kleczkowski; Henrik Vibe Schelle; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical library screening; Cell wall synthesis; Glycosylation; Nucleotide sugars; Oligomerization; Protein structure; Reverse chemical genetics; Sugar activation; UDP-sugar synthesis; biokemisk farmakologi; biochemical pharmacology; biokemi; Biochemistry; biology; biologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : UDP-sugar metabolizing pyrophosphorylases provide the primary mechanism for de novo synthesis of UDP-sugars, which can then be used for myriads of glycosyltranferase reactions, producing cell wall carbohydrates, sucrose, glycoproteins and glycolipids, as well as many other glycosylated compounds. The pyrophosphorylases can be divided into three families: UDP-Glc pyrophosphorylase (UGPase), UDP-sugar pyrophosphorylase (USPase) and UDP-N-acety lglucosamine pyrophosphorylase (UAGPase), which can be discriminated both by differences in accepted substrate range and amino acid sequences. 3. 28. Individual-tree-selection in uneven-sized Norway spruce stands in southern Sweden : Developments of tools for simulation and optimization

    Författare :Nils Fagerberg; Johan Bergh; Peter Lohmander; Stergios Adamopoulos; Hubert Hasenauer; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; continuous cover forestry; selective cutting; Picea abies; uneven-aged; single-tree-selection; growth model; knot size model; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Individual-tree-selection (ITS) is a continuous cover forestry method that aims to utilize the uneven-sized stand structure through optimized individual tree selections. ITS is an interesting management alternative to rotation forestry in terms of production of multiple benefits and forest owner profitability. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Freden, friköpen och järnplogarna. Drivkrafter och förändringsprocesser under den agrara revolutionen i Halland 1700 - 1900

    Författare :Pablo Wiking-Faria; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; agricultural revolution; motivating forces; Halland; Sweden; history; northwestern Europe; 18th century; 19th century; peasants; freeholders; bottom-up theory; estate inventories; agricultural tools; land reclamation; cultivation systems; enclosures; livestock;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis studies the agricultural revolution in the province Halland in southwestern Sweden. New tools, land reclamation, new cultivation systems, better livestock, enclosures and free holding during the period 1700-1900 are investigated. The source materials consist of estate inventories, land survey documents and present descriptions. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Population viability analysis under environmental change : development of Bayesian tools

    Författare :Alejandro Ruete; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : An understanding of the links between population dynamics and environmental variability, combined with information on how these factors change over time, is necessary to understand and predict population dynamics and viability in changing environments. Scientists need also to acknowledge uncertainties in their understanding of systems, which is straightforward using Bayesian statistics. LÄS MER
