  1. 6. Taking Time and Making Journeys : Narratives on Self and the Other among Backpackers

    Författare :Torun Elsrud; Sociologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sociology; other; backpacking; primitivism; risk; time; tourism; gender; adventure; Sociologi; Sociology;

    Sammanfattning : This work addresses the phenomenon of long-term, so-called ‘independent’ travelling, or backpacking, often to destinations described as the ‘third world’. It regards backpacker journeys as arenas for identity work, for expressing individuality and a ‘strong character’. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Migration strategies of raptors – spatio-temporal adaptations and constraints in travelling and foraging

    Författare :Roine Strandberg; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; route convergence; loop migration; mortality; spatio-temporal distribution patterns; pre- and post-migratory movements; daily travel routines; satellite tracking; fly-and-forage migration; raptors;

    Sammanfattning : My dissertation is about bird migration and addresses questions about how raptors adapt to the fluctuating environments during the transition seasons between breeding and wintering. The migration is highly affected by local prey abundance, foraging strategies, weather conditions and landscape patterns along the migration routes as well as navigation and orientation mechanisms and cues. 3. 8. Studies of Tropospheric and Stratospheric Aerosol using Ion Beam Analysis

    Författare :Giorgos Papaspiropoulos; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmosphere; Aerosols; troposphere; stratosphere; ion beam analysis; PIXE; impactors; particulate sulphur; chemical speciation; elemental analysis; thermography; Physics; Nuclear physics; Fysik; Metrology; Kärnfysik; physical instrumentation; Metrologi; fysisk instrumentering; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Papaspiropoulos;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric aerosol particles are believed to have an impact on the radiative forcing of the earth's surface. The predicted results indicate a net cooling effect on the global climate, however there are few studies available to substantiate this and experimental data are needed. LÄS MER
