26. Shear walls for multi-storey timber buildings
Sammanfattning : Wind loads acting on wooden building structures need to be dealt with adequately in order to ensure that neither the serviceability limit state nor the ultimate limit state is exceeded. For the structural designer of tall buildings, avoiding the possibly serious consequences of heavy wind loading while taking account at the same time of the effects of gravitation can be a real challenge. 27. Metoder att välja korrektioner vid fuktberäkningar med variabelt utomhusklimat
Sammanfattning : Determination of the design conditions for moisture resistance requires in a Moisture Design number of different moisture calculations to be made in order to determine the moisture status within, or on the surface of, a structure. The objective of this work has been to ascertain how to allow for variations in climate data in order to be able to determine the most unfavourable moisture status likely to be encountered during the life of a building. 28. Understanding the application of knowledge management to the safety critical facilities
Sammanfattning : Challenges to the operating nuclear power plants and transport infrastructures are outlined. It is concluded that most aggravating factors are related to knowledge. Thus, of necessity, effective knowledge management is required. LÄS MER
29. Low Portland cement content concretes at freezing and subfreezing temperatures
Sammanfattning : Concrete is the most used building material. With the increasing growth of industries and urbanization globally; the demand for concrete is increasing significantly. Ordinary Portland Cement (PC) is the binder used to produce typical concrete. Unfortunately, for every ton of manufactured cement about 0. LÄS MER
30. Retarded sorption in wood : experimental study, analyses and modeling
Sammanfattning : Models of moisture flow processes in wood are normally based on a Fickian approach. In many instances, there are considerable discrepancies between modelling and experimental results. It is shown in this thesis that a major cause for these discrepancies is a so-called retarded sorption which is not accounted for in conventional theories. LÄS MER
