1. Shear walls for multi-storey timber buildings
Sammanfattning : Wind loads acting on wooden building structures need to be dealt with adequately in order to ensure that neither the serviceability limit state nor the ultimate limit state is exceeded. For the structural designer of tall buildings, avoiding the possibly serious consequences of heavy wind loading while taking account at the same time of the effects of gravitation can be a real challenge. 2. Analysis of shear walls for multi-storey timber buildings
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis addresses questions of how wind loads acting on multistoreytimber buildings can be dealt with by structural design of such buildings. The conventional use of sheathing either nailed or screwed to a timberframework is considered, together with other stabilizing structures such ascross-laminated timber panels. 3. Studies of ulcerative colitis with concomitant primary sclerosing cholangitis : Beyond the clinical phenotype
Sammanfattning : Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a group of chronically relapsing immune-related disorders, engaging the gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms vary depending on inflammatory phenotype, but may include diarrhoea, bowel pain and weight loss. The two most common entities are Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis (UC). LÄS MER
4. Moisture-induced stress and distortion of wood : A numerical and experimental study of wood's drying and long-term behaviour
Sammanfattning : With the current advances made in three-dimensional modelling of wood, it is possible to provide an overall picture of moisture flow, and moisture-induced stress and deformations, whereas previously, experiments only provided local measurements. The main aim of the doctoral thesis is to investigate the possibilities of the developed three-dimensional numerical model to predict the behaviour of wood when simultaneously exposed to a mechanical load and a particular climate. 5. Parametric FE-modelling of non-linear racking behaviour of light-frame shear walls and modules used for multi-storey timber buildings
Sammanfattning : Wood is a sustainable material from nature that has a longstanding traditionas a building material. Compared to other construction materials, such as steeland concrete, the significance of using structural timber and engineered wood products has increased in recent years because they are regarded as a renewable source and require a low carbon footprint and less energy consumption during production.
