Sammanfattning : Wind loads acting on wooden building structures need to be dealt with adequately in order to ensure that neither the serviceability limit state nor the ultimate limit state is exceeded. For the structural designer of tall buildings, avoiding the possibly serious consequences of heavy wind loading while taking account at the same time of the effects of gravitation can be a real challenge. Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis addresses questions of how wind loads acting on multistoreytimber buildings can be dealt with by structural design of such buildings. The conventional use of sheathing either nailed or screwed to a timberframework is considered, together with other stabilizing structures such ascross-laminated timber panels. Sammanfattning : The horizontal stabilization of timber frame buildings is oftenprovided by shear walls. Plastic design methods can be used todetermine the load-carrying capacity of fully and partially anchoredshear walls. In order to use these methods, a ductile behaviour of thesheathing-to-framing joint must be ensured. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : Interactions between glial cells and neurons are important during fetal develop-ment, in the maintenance of the normal functions in tile central nervous system (CNS), arid in response to injuries or diseases. Some of die motor disturbances in Parkinson's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder where one of the hallmarks is de-generation of dopamine (DA) neurons and concomitant depletion of DA in stria-tum, can be alleviated by intrastriatal grafting of embryonic DA tissue. 5. Structural Analysis of Deep Composite Box-Type Components with application to a proprietary stabilising timber wall element
Sammanfattning : The stabilising wall element of the Trä8-system is a deep box-type beam/column element which is made of different types of timber composites including framing members of gluedlaminated timber (glulam) and sheathings of laminated veneer lumber (LVL). This element is used as a ―shear wall‖ in multi-storey buildings up to four storeys. LÄS MER
